The lightest, most transportable non-penetrating guardrail kit on the market. The Frontline GUS75 covers 75 linear feet of roof edge with eleven 56-lb non-penetrating bases, ten ASTM-rated steel rails, and a patented EPDM-stabilized footprint that grips without piercing the membrane. Independently tested by Intertek Testing Services NA Inc. against the OSHA 1926.105(b) and 1910.29(b) static strength requirements — 200 lb / 890N applied outward and downward, with all samples passing both anchorage resistance and the 39" minimum height retention. Stacks four pallets high, breaks down for transport, and sets up in minutes without a single fastener in your roof.

Welcome — before you order, take a couple of minutes to watch how the GUS75 sets up, breaks down, and stacks for transport. The best way to know if it's right for your crew is to see it run.

What Sets the GUS75 Apart

Lightest Base in Its Class — 56 lbs At 56 lbs per base, the GUS75 is genuinely transportable by one worker without a forklift or pallet jack at the work area. Two ergonomic foam handles are integrated into the base body for safe lifting and positioning. Crews moving guardrail mid-project feel the weight savings every shift.
Non-Penetrating EPDM Footprint Two extended EPDM rubber stabilizer pads on each base provide the friction needed to resist the OSHA-required 200-lb top-rail load without bolting or piercing the roof. Verified by Intertek under static load testing in both directions. Your TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen, or standing-seam roof remains under warranty.
ASTM-Rated Steel Construction Bases and rails are fabricated from ASTM-rated structural steel — not the lighter-gauge tube used by some competitors. Finished in electrostatic-applied safety green or safety yellow paint for high visibility and corrosion resistance through full North American weather.
Integrated Toe Board Slots Each base has built-in toe board slots sized for standard 2x4 lumber or steel toe plate. Toe boards mitigate dropped-object hazards to workers and the public below — required by OSHA 1910.29(k) and 1926.502(j) wherever there's a fall path of more than 6 feet onto people or equipment.
Dual Grub Screw Rail Lock Each rail end locks into the base with two grub screws, not a single pin. The dual-screw connection eliminates the rail wobble and lateral play common to single-pin systems. Tightening takes a standard hex key — no specialty tools, no torque wrench.
Stacks 4 Pallets High Bases nest and pallet-stack four units high without binding or damage to the EPDM pads. A full multi-kit jobsite load stages onto a single semi-trailer footprint. Off-season storage drops to a fraction of the floor space required by tube-and-counterweight competitors.
Optional Bolt-Down Through-Holes Each base includes two through-holes for permanent or sloped-roof installations where the freestanding configuration isn't appropriate. On roofs with a slope above 1:12, mechanical fastening through these holes is required.
Patent-Pending Base Design Frontline holds patent-pending status on the GUS75 base geometry — the combined EPDM pad placement, handle integration, toe board slot, and rail-receiver assembly are not available on any other guardrail system on the market.

What's Included — Complete 75' Kit

The 11-base / 10-rail count accommodates straight runs, corners, and required end returns. End-of-run returns (90° rail sections at the termination of a straight run) are required for OSHA compliance on freestanding systems — see the owner's manual for layout specifics.

10 Steel Guardrails 7.5 ft each. Electrostatic-painted ASTM-rated steel, safety green or safety yellow finish.
11 Non-Penetrating Bases 56 lbs each. EPDM stabilizer pads, integrated foam handles, toe board slots, dual through-holes.
Mounting Hardware Full set of dual grub screws — two screws per rail-to-base connection. No specialty tools required.

⚠ Roof Slope — Read Before Ordering

The freestanding (non-penetrating) configuration is rated for roof slopes up to 1:12 (approximately 5°). This covers flat and low-slope commercial roofs — TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen, BUR.

On steeper roofs, the bases must be mechanically fastened to the structure via the two integrated through-holes in each base. Do not use the freestanding configuration on residential pitched roofs or on any surface with a slope greater than 1:12. If your roof slope is unclear, call us before ordering.

Compliance & Certification

✔ Tested OSHA 1926.105(b) & 1910.29(b) Independently tested by Intertek under OSHA's guardrail static strength criteria. 200 lb load applied to the top edge in both outward and downward directions. All samples passed anchorage resistance and 39" height retention.
✔ Compliant OSHA 1926.502(b) & 1910.29 Satisfies OSHA's design and performance requirements for top-rail strength, height, and anchorage on construction (1926) and general industry (1910) jobsites.
✔ Compliant CAL OSHA Title 8 Meets California's Title 8 guardrail criteria for non-penetrating freestanding guardrail systems on flat and low-slope roofs.
⚠ Important Note No ANSI Consensus Standard There is no ANSI test standard specifically governing non-penetrating freestanding guardrails — OSHA performance criteria are the authoritative reference. Any seller claiming an ANSI cert on this product type is conflating test methodology with consensus certification.
Independently Tested by Intertek Testing Services NA Inc. Intertek is a globally recognized third-party testing laboratory and Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). The GUS75 testing was conducted at Intertek's Cortland, NY facility, completed by technician Steve Morey and reviewed by team leader Matthew Stevens. Not self-certified. Frequently Asked Questions

Does this guardrail system require drilling into the roof?
No. The GUS75 is a non-penetrating system. The eleven 56-lb steel bases, combined with the dual EPDM stabilizer pads on each base, provide the friction and dead weight needed to meet OSHA's 200-lb top-rail load requirement without piercing the roof membrane. This is verified by Intertek static strength testing under Report No. 105226330CRT-001. For roof slopes above 1:12 or for permanent installations, the bases include integrated through-holes for optional mechanical fastening.
How does the system meet OSHA's 200-lb force requirement?
The GUS75 was tested by Intertek to OSHA 1926.105(b) using a 200 lb (890N) static load applied to the top rail in both outward and downward directions. Three samples were tested in each direction. All samples passed both criteria: (1) the anchorage resisted the test load, and (2) the top rail maintained a height greater than 39 inches under load. The 200 lb resistance comes from the combined weight of the steel base, the friction generated by the EPDM stabilizers, and the dual grub screw rail-to-base connection.
What lab tested the GUS75, and is the report available?
The GUS75 was tested by Intertek Testing Services NA Inc., a globally recognized third-party testing laboratory and Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), at their Cortland, NY facility. Testing was conducted October 14–18, 2022, under Report No. 105226330CRT-001 (issued October 26, 2022). The full test report is available for download in the Submittal Documents section below — submit it directly to your safety manager, GC, or general contractor without waiting on us.
Are end-of-run returns required?
Yes. To maintain OSHA compliance on a freestanding guardrail system, a "return" — a guardrail section at a 90-degree angle to the run — is required at the open ends of a straight run. The return prevents lateral instability and prevents a worker from walking off the unprotected end. The GUS75's 11-base/10-rail kit count is sized to accommodate standard return configurations. Refer to the owner's manual for specific end-of-run layouts.
Can I use this guardrail system on a sloped roof?
The freestanding configuration is rated for roof slopes up to 1:12 (approximately 5°). On flat and low-slope commercial roofs — TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen, BUR — the system performs as tested. On steeper roofs, the bases must be mechanically fastened to the structure via the two integrated through-holes in each base. Do not use the freestanding configuration on residential pitched roofs or on any surface with a pitch above 1:12.
Do I need to purchase toe boards separately?
The GUS75 bases include integrated toe board slots, but the toe board material itself — typically 2x4 lumber or steel toe plate — is sourced locally to fit your project. Toe boards are required by OSHA 1910.29(k) and 1926.502(j) wherever there's a fall path of more than 6 feet onto people, equipment, or materials below.
Is the safety green/yellow finish weather-resistant?
Yes. Both colors are applied as electrostatic anti-corrosive coatings, which produce a tougher, more uniform finish than standard powder coat or wet paint. Designed for long-term outdoor exposure, including UV resistance and rust protection, in commercial and industrial environments. The high-visibility color also serves as a passive warning to workers and visitors approaching the roof edge.
What are the most common installation mistakes?
Three things to watch for: (1) Loose grub screws — both screws on each rail-to-base connection must be fully seated. A loose connection can introduce wobble and reduce the system's tested load resistance. (2) Debris under the base — gravel, ice, dirt, or membrane irregularities under the EPDM pads reduce friction. Sweep the base footprint before placement. (3) Rocking bases on uneven surfaces — confirm both EPDM pads are seated firmly. A rocking base hasn't fully engaged the friction surface and can shift under load.
Can I add to this kit for longer runs?
Yes. The GUS75 is the 75-foot kit. Frontline offers the GUS series in additional lengths, and individual rails and bases can be added to extend coverage. Call us before ordering if your run requires custom configuration, multiple corners, or non-standard end returns. We spec systems before you buy, not after the truck arrives.
Do you spec complete fall protection systems?
Yes — this is the core reason contractors come to us instead of a big-box distributor. We stock guardrails, standing-seam roof anchors, harnesses, lanyards, SRLs, and complete fall-arrest systems. Call before you order, and we'll confirm the guardrail layout, returns, and any complementary fall arrest gear you need for the specific roof and crew size.
