FAQ For Fall Protection Products

OSHA requires employers to provide fall protection at heights of 6 feet or more. A typical roofing safety system includes a certified anchor point, such as the SSRA1. It also requires a full-body harness and a connecting device, such as a shock-absorbing lanyard or a self-retracting lifeline (SRL).

Your choice depends on your work environment and the length of time the harness will be used. For standard roofing, a lightweight 3-point harness is often sufficient. For extended tasks, choose a padded, breathable harness with side D-rings for comfort and positioning.

A shock-absorbing lanyard is a fixed-length connector (a safety strap that attaches a harness to an anchor point). It expands to reduce impact during a fall, but needs significant clearance. A Self-Retracting Lifeline (SRL) is a device that contains a retractable line and a locking mechanism. It locks instantly, like a seatbelt, limiting a fall to just inches. This makes SRLs the preferred choice for low-clearance areas.

Yes. All equipment at Fall Protection Distributors meets or exceeds OSHA 1926 and ANSI Z359 requirements—anchors, harnesses, and lifelines included. We only stock 3rd-party tested gear from trusted brands like SSRA, Malta Dynamics, and FallTech. This ensures maximum worker safety.

You need two certified end-anchors, such as SSRA1 anchors with SSRA3 plates. You also need a high-strength cable or synthetic rope, along with a tensioning device. This setup allows two workers to stay tied off while moving along the roof. Workers do not have to switch anchor points.

Absolutely. We lead in standing seam metal roof anchors. We also provide anchors for concrete, wood, and steel I-beams. Our range includes pour-in-place concrete anchors, temporary roof-peak anchors like the RidgePro, and specialized beam clamps.
