How to Inspect Your SRL:
- Inspect the metal components, ensuring the fall indicator hasn’t been triggered, and the snap hook functions appropriately. Any deformation in the snap hook means the device should be taken out of service.
- Check the housing to ensure all fasteners are secure and that the labels are intact and have accurate information.
- Inspect the entire cable for cuts, frays, or burns. If it’s tangled inside the housing, the SRL can no longer be used for fall arrest.
- Perform a strike test by pulling downward on the cable to ensure the braking system engages without setting off the fall indicator.
