Hinged Versatility for Steep and Flat Surfaces

The standout feature of the 3006 anchor is its hinged design, which adapts seamlessly to various roof slopes and deck configurations. It can be installed over a ridge or flat on the deck, supporting pitches up to 20/12 when utilizing screws or up to 12/12 when using the included duplex nails. This adaptability makes it the go-to solution for framing, roofing, and general maintenance on residential projects. Each unit is proof-tested to 3,600 pounds, ensuring peace of mind during every climb.

Temporary and Reusable Safety

Designed for quick deployment and easy removal, the Super Anchor 3006 is a favorite among trades that require temporary safety without long-term structural changes. The package includes 36 duplex nails for immediate use in wood-framed structures, enabling rapid relocation as the job progresses. The high-strength D-ring is designed to resist deformation under load and connects securely to all standard snap hooks and carabiners found on modern lifelines and SRLs.

Super Anchor 3006 Hinged Anchor FAQ

1. Can this anchor be installed on a metal roof?

The 3006 is primarily designed for wood-framed structures and wood decking. For metal roofing applications that require a non-penetrating solution, we recommend the Super Anchor 8501 G-Clamp System.

2. Is it safe to use screws instead of the provided nails?

Yes. In fact, using appropriate structural screws allows the anchor to be used on steeper pitches (up to 20/12). Always ensure you are using the specific fastener type and quantity outlined in the Super Anchor 3006 Instruction Manual to maintain the 5,000 lb rating.

3. Can I leave this anchor on the roof permanently?

While the zinc coating provides durability, the 3006 is intended for temporary use. For long-term, permanent anchorage flashed into the roofing system, consider the stainless steel ARS series anchors.

4. How many fasteners are required for a safe installation?

All fastener holes must be filled to achieve the certified breaking strength. The kit includes 36 duplex nails; ensure that every designated hole on the hinged plates is utilized during installation.

5. Is this anchor rated for two people?

No. The Super Anchor 3006 is a single-user anchor point. It is rated for one person (up to 310 lbs) for either fall arrest or fall restraint. Never attach more than one lifeline to a single 3006 anchor.

6. How do I avoid common mistakes during installation?

  • 1. Fastener Depth: Ensure nails or screws penetrate fully into the structural truss or rafter, not just the plywood sheathing.
  • 2. Inspection: Inspect the D-ring for cracks or the plates for excessive rust before every use.
  • 3. Correct Orientation: When installed over a ridge, ensure the hinge is centered and both sides are fastened equally.
