Who Is Town & Country Metals?

This Missouri-based manufacturer is known for high-quality metal roofing products and trusted service across the Southeastern U.S.

Town & Country Metals is a trusted metal roofing manufacturer based in Union, MO. With a strong reputation, the company has established itself as a go-to source for contractors, architects, and property owners seeking reliable metal building products. Their customer service, industry knowledge, and commitment to quality have helped them grow into one of the region's most respected names in metal roofing.

One of their standout products is the Secure-Seam Standing Seam Roofing Panel. This snap-lock panel system is built with concealed clip fasteners, allowing it to flex with temperature changes while maintaining a tight seal against wind and rain.

Secure-Seam panels are manufactured in three different widths, using either 26-gauge or 24-gauge steel. They have 21 in-stock color options, including acrylic-coated Galvalume. They can be roll-formed on-site or shipped directly from the plant. The panel's profile and construction make it a premium choice for projects that require long-term performance without sacrificing appearance.

Why Are Compatible Fall Protection Anchors Critical for Standing Seam Roofs?

The right anchor protects both the worker and the roof, while the wrong one can cause costly damage or void warranties.

Standing seam roofs require a different approach when it comes to safety equipment. These roofs are constructed with hidden fasteners and interlocking seams, allowing the panels to shift naturally in response to temperature changes. That flexibility is one of their biggest strengths, but it also means the wrong type of anchor can cause real damage.

Using a standard screw-down anchor might seem like an easy solution, but it can compromise the roof in several ways. Penetrating the panel introduces holes that break the watertight barrier and can void the manufacturer's warranty. Even a small screw hole can lead to long-term problems, such as water intrusion and panel corrosion.

Compatible fall protection systems are essential because they protect both the worker and the roof. Non-penetrating anchors that clamp to the seams allow for proper panel expansion and contraction.

When working on Secure-Seam or any similar snap-lock system, it's essential to select anchors that match the panel profile and the material gauge. The right anchor will meet OSHA and ANSI standards while ensuring the roof continues to perform as expected for years to come.

Town & Country Metals manufactures the Secure-Seam Snap Lock panel, focusing on long-lasting performance and versatility. The panel features a 1-3/4-inch seam height and is available in coverage widths of 14, 16, and 18 inches. These panels are available in 24 and 26-gauge steel and are offered in all 23 of the company's standard colors, as well as acrylic-coated Galvalume. The paint system utilizes Valspar's Weather XL finish, which provides an additional layer of durability against UV and environmental wear.

Workers can install the Secure-Seam Snap Lock panel over approved decking on roofs with a minimum slope of 1/2:12. With either AZ-50 painted Galvalume or AZ-55 acrylic-coated Galvalume as the panel material, this system is suitable for both commercial and residential applications where both appearance and performance are essential. It also includes a 40-year warranty and features a detailed installation guide, available for contractors to ensure proper panel handling and fastening techniques.

For 24-gauge panels, SSRA anchors and lifelines provide secure tie-off points without damaging the panel, while Ridge Pro covers lighter materials.

When working on Secure-Seam panels made from 24-gauge steel, contractors can use the SSRA1 Seam Anchors to establish secure, non-penetrating tie-off points. These anchors clamp directly to the standing seam rib without damaging the panel or affecting its ability to expand and contract. They are reusable and adjustable, making them ideal for temporary or long-term safety systems on a wide range of seam profiles.

To increase mobility and stability on steeper slopes or slippery surfaces, workers can mount the SSRA2 Adjustable Roof Jack Adapters on top of the SSRA1 anchors. These adapters allow installers to support 10-foot wooden walkboards across the panel seams, creating a safe and level platform for workers to move materials and perform tasks with better balance and footing. The adapters distribute weight evenly across the seam, helping protect the roof surface during staging or installation.

Crews can add the SSRA3 Anchor Plates to the SSRA1 anchors to create a complete temporary 100-foot horizontal lifeline system. The anchor plate spans between two SSRA1 anchors and includes a D-ring connection point for attaching lifeline cable. This setup keeps the fall protection system above the roof deck, preventing trip hazards and preserving the seam below. Installers can set up and remove the system without making any roof penetrations.

Suppose the project requires a permanent fall protection solution. In that case, the Super Anchor 120-foot Standing Seam HLL Kit offers everything needed to install a long-term, galvanized steel cable lifeline system. This OSHA-compliant kit includes stainless steel components and aluminum seam clamps that secure the lifeline without drilling into the panels. It's ideal for buildings that need permanent tie-off points for ongoing maintenance or rooftop access.

For all Secure-Seam panels not made from 24-gauge steel—including those made from 26-gauge steel or aluminum—the Ridge Pro Steep Assist Anchor is the most compatible option for slopes ranging from 6/12 to 12/12. This system hooks over the ridge of the roof. It allows the user to secure a lifeline from the ladder using a telescoping pole. Once installed, it creates a safe transition onto the roof and maintains a 100% tie-off throughout the job. Because it does not require drilling or seam clamping, the Ridge Pro works well with lighter-gauge panels and roofs where seam-mounted anchors may not be suitable.

T&C Perma-Loc Nailstrip Panels

The Perma-Loc Nailstrip panel is Town & Country Metals' most economical and widely used standing seam roofing system. With 1-inch high seams and panel widths of 12 or 16 inches, it provides a clean, modern look while remaining easy to install. This panel is a popular choice for residential roofing projects, light commercial buildings, and accent roofs where appearance, affordability, and performance all matter.

The Nailstrip design simplifies installation by eliminating the need for separate clips. Instead, the panel is fastened through a hidden flange before the adjacent panel snaps into place, locking the system together. While this method saves time and labor, it still demands a fall protection plan that won't compromise the panel's structural or weather-tight integrity.

Workers can use SSRA anchors for secure tie-off on 24-gauge panels. At the same time, the Ridge Pro offers a better solution for lighter materials and steeper slopes.

For Perma-Loc panels made from 24-gauge steel, the most reliable safety solution begins with the SSRA1 Seam Anchor. This anchor clamps securely onto the seam without drilling or damaging the panel. It creates a strong, reusable attachment point that meets OSHA and ANSI safety standards while protecting the roof from punctures or deformation.

Contractors can mount the SSRA2 Adjustable Roof Jack Adapters on top of the SSRA1 anchors to provide extra support on steep roof surfaces. This combination creates a stable base for 10-foot wooden walkboards, giving workers a flat surface to stand on. The adapters adjust easily to match seam spacing and roof pitch.

Installers can expand the system for maximum worker mobility by placing SSRA3 Anchor Plates on top of two SSRA1 anchors. These aluminum plates come with a built-in D-ring for attaching a temporary 100-foot horizontal lifeline. The setup allows two workers to remain tied off while moving laterally across the roof, reducing the risk of falls without introducing trip hazards or damaging the seams. No holes, fasteners, or permanent modifications are needed.

Suppose the job site requires a permanent fall protection solution. In that case, the Super Anchor 120-foot Standing Seam HLL Kit provides a complete, code-compliant system. This kit includes pre-engineered seam clamps, base plates, 5-inch riser posts, 120 feet of galvanized steel cable, and hardware to create a long-lasting horizontal lifeline. Like the SSRA system, it installs without requiring panel penetration. It supports safe rooftop access for maintenance crews or building staff long after construction is complete.

For panels made from lighter materials, such as 26-gauge steel or aluminum, the Ridge Pro Steep Assist Anchor is a dependable alternative for roofs with pitches ranging from 6/12 to 12/12. This anchor hooks over the ridge and allows a worker to tie off before stepping onto the roof. Using a telescoping extension pole, installers can secure the Ridge Pro from the ladder and maintain a 100% tie-off while working. The Ridge Pro works well on most roof types, especially where seam-mounted anchors are not suitable.

Safety Tips For Standing Seam Roofs

Use Specialized Anchor Systems for Standing Seam Roofs

Not all anchors are created equal, especially on standing seam metal roofs. Traditional screw-down anchors can deform the seam, compromise weathertightness, and void the panel warranty. Seam-mounted anchor systems, on the other hand, attach without penetration. They clamp to the seam itself, protecting both the roof and the workers. Choosing the right anchor isn't just about safety; it's about preserving the roof's long-term integrity and stability.

Ensure Proper Footwear for Stability

Footwear matters more than most people realize. On a slick metal roof, even a single misstep can lead to disaster. Crew members should wear boots with slip-resistant soles and solid ankle support that still allow for enough flexibility to maintain grip and balance on uneven or sloped surfaces. Proper shoes can help prevent slips and fatigue throughout the workday.

Install Permanent Roof Anchor Systems

Suppose a roof is going to be accessed regularly for inspections, HVAC maintenance, or solar panel cleaning. In that case, it's time to think beyond temporary anchors. Permanent roof anchors create designated tie-off points that are always available and fully compliant. They eliminate the need to reinstall equipment for every job, reduce setup time, and help preserve the roof surface by avoiding repeated drilling or clamping.

Consult Experts for Curved Metal Panels

Radiused metal roofs aren't compatible with most off-the-shelf fall protection systems. Their shape can distort how anchors apply force, increasing the risk of panel damage or anchor failure. Before starting work on any curved roof, consult a fall protection expert who can recommend safe and compatible systems. It's the best way to protect the crew and the building.

Promote a Culture of Safety

Safety isn't something you check off a list, it's something you live and breathe on the job site. Safety culture begins with leadership and evolves through daily routines, open conversations, and peer accountability. When crews feel empowered to speak up, report hazards, and prioritize their well-being, safety becomes more than just a policy; it becomes part of the team's identity.

Set Up Protective Guardrail Barriers for Work Zones

Guardrails provide a visible, physical reminder that the edge is near. Whether you're working near skylights, open hatches, or a sheer drop, a guardrail can prevent missteps and offer peace of mind. These systems are beneficial in areas where constant tie-off isn't realistic. Installing them correctly helps crews move more freely without sacrificing safety.

Develop OSHA-Compliant Safety Plans

A safety plan is more than a document; it's a communication tool. It should map out hazard areas, outline rescue procedures, and clearly define who is responsible for what. This blueprint assigns a role to every team member in maintaining a safe environment. When updated regularly and shared openly, it helps prevent confusion and keeps everyone aligned with best practices.

Encourage the Use of Trauma Straps

Even when safety equipment successfully arrests a fall, the danger doesn't stop there. Suspension trauma can develop in just minutes. Trauma straps provide workers with a means to relieve pressure on their legs by redistributing their weight, which maintains circulation and reduces the risk of unconsciousness. These compact, inexpensive additions to a harness can be life-saving in a rescue situation.

Equip Workers with High-Quality Safety Gear

The best fall protection system in the world won't help if it's uncomfortable or poorly maintained. Workers need gear that fits properly, feels comfortable during long shifts, and can withstand real-world use. Harnesses, lanyards, and SRLs should be rated to meet OSHA standards. Still, they also need to be something the crew will use consistently and correctly.

Prioritize Ladder Safety Training

Ladders are one of the most used and most misused tools on any job site. Everyone should know how to inspect for damage, set up using the 4-to-1 rule, and secure the base properly. Safe climbing also means using both hands, wearing the proper footwear, and never rushing the climb. One quick training session can prevent a serious injury before the day even begins.
