Who Is Borga Steel Buildings?

Borga Steel Buildings and Components has served as a cornerstone of California's steel building industry since its founding in 1984. Based in Fowler, California, the company operates as a leading manufacturer of pre-engineered steel structures for the agriculture, industrial, commercial, and religious sectors. Borga creates durable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing solutions tailored to the unique climate and needs of the Central Valley and beyond.

Innovation drives Borga's manufacturing excellence. Their facility uses advanced technologies, such as high-definition CNC plasma cutters, to achieve precision that transforms days of work into hours. This efficiency allows Borga to offer shorter lead times and outstanding customer service for everything from agricultural hay barns to complex solar canopies. Their standing seam panels, available in mechanically seamed and snap-together options, exemplify their commitment to quality and architectural versatility.

Why Are Compatible Fall Protection Anchors Critical For Borga Steel Buildings?

Borga's standing seam metal roofs offer unmatched durability, but maintaining safety on these high-performance systems requires specialized strategies. To ensure OSHA compliance while protecting the roof's structural and watertight integrity, we recommend the following specialized components:

  • Standing Seam Roof Anchor (SSRA1): This anchor serves as the foundation of the safety system. It clamps securely to Borga's standing seams without drilling or puncturing the surface, preserving the roof's warranty and weathertight seal.
  • SSRA2 Adjustable Roof Jacks: These mount directly to the SSRA1 to support walkboards. This setup provides workers with a stable, level platform for safely navigating sloped roofs.
  • SSRA3 Anchor Plates: These aluminum spanner plates, when paired with SSRA1 anchors, create attachment points for temporary horizontal lifelines. This strategy facilitates 100% tie-off compliance for multiple workers.
  • 100-Foot SSRA Temporary HLL Kit: This kit provides a complete, non-penetrating lifeline solution for rapid deployment on larger Borga roofing projects.
  • 120-Foot Super Anchor Permanent HLL Kit: This system provides a permanent, non-penetrating cable solution for long-term facility maintenance using 5-inch galvanized steel riser posts.
  • Ridge Pro Steep Assist Anchor: This anchor hooks securely over the roof peak to provide a reliable tie-off point for slopes between 6:12 and 12:12 where seam-mounted anchors may not be compatible.

Proper Attachment: Set Screws and Torque Requirements

Your safety and the SSRA1 anchor's certified holding power depend on correct set screw application. We provide specialized fastening options based on the material gauge of your Borga panels:

  • Cupped-Tip Stainless Steel Set Screws: Use these exclusively on 22-gauge steel panels (such as Pan-Deck). Torque them to 90 inch-pounds to secure the anchors to the seam.
  • Nylon-Tipped Set Screws: Apply these to 22- or 24-gauge steel panels to achieve certified holding power. Torque them to 180–200 inch-pounds for maximum strength.
  • Maintenance: Treat nylon tips as consumables. Replace them every 3 to 5 uses to ensure they maintain the necessary coefficient of friction.

CRITICAL WARNING: NO IMPACT GUNS

Never use an impact gun to install set screws. Over-torquing with an impact driver crushes the standing seam, damages the anchor hardware, and voids the manufacturer's warranty. Always use a calibrated torque wrench for final installation.

The Borga Tioga panel offers a premium snaplock roofing solution for residential and architectural projects. This concealed fastener system uses a pre-punched flange for quick installation over solid substrates. B&B manufactures these panels in 24 or 26-gauge Galvalume® steel with a standard 16-inch width. Because the Tioga panel utilizes a nailstrip flange rather than a traditional standing seam, it requires a ridge-based fall protection strategy to maintain its modern aesthetic and watertight seal. American Engineering Outperforms "Bargain" Imports

When you install high-performance Borga Steel systems, your choice of fall protection hardware reflects your commitment to quality. The market increasingly features unbranded, imported fall protection anchors that mimic the appearance of certified American hardware. While these "bargain" alternatives promise a universal fit and lower costs, they often lack the verifiable, third-party engineering documentation required to satisfy OSHA 1926.502 and ANSI Z359.18 standards.

Choosing the SSRA system ensures you receive a product built on a foundation of transparency and domestic excellence. By designing, testing, and manufacturing every component in the United States, we provide the compliance data you need to keep your projects running safely and smoothly. Investing in American-engineered anchors protects your crew from equipment failure and the liabilities associated with non-certified equipment.
