Who Is Tremco Roofing?
Tremco Roofing has played a long-standing role in the commercial roofing industry since its founding in 1928. Headquartered in Beachwood, Ohio, the company operates as part of the Tremco Construction Products Group. Tremco operates throughout North America with a large technical sales force and an extensive network of manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, and regional offices.
Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance has a long-standing reputation for durability and performance in the building envelope. Tremco's standing seam solutions, including the TremLock series, are engineered for both new construction and retrofit projects, emphasizing concealed fasteners, weather-tight seams, and compatibility with a wide range of substrates. This approach aligns with Tremco's core focus on long-term envelope performance and lifecycle cost efficiency for owners and facility managers.
What Are The Most Compatible Fall Protection Anchors for Tremco Standing Seam Metal Roofs?
Tremco standing-seam roof systems require fall protection that keeps workers safe without compromising the roof's engineered performance. Tremco standing seam panels rely on concealed clips, weather-tight seams, and controlled thermal expansion to maintain long-term weather resistance. Conventional mechanically fastened anchors run counter to those design principles. Drilling through panels or seams restricts movement, damages seam shape, and introduces hidden leaks that often appear years after installation.
Non-penetrating fall protection systems offer the most compatible solution for Tremco standing-seam roofs. For steel 22-gauge and 24-gauge standing seam profiles that accept seam-mounted anchorage, the following products provide a complete safety solution:
- SSRA1 Standing Seam Roof Anchor: A universal non-penetrating anchor that attaches to the seam using 12 stainless-steel set screws, providing a 5,000-pound certified tie-off point without drilling.
- SSRA2 Adjustable Roof Jack Adapters: Adapters that mount to SSRA1 anchors to support a 10-foot walk board. These adapters provide adjustable height and roof pitch correction, creating a level surface to keep workers safe and provide a stable area for tools and equipment on steel metal roofs without penetrations.
- SSRA3 Anchor Plate: A heavy-duty aluminum plate that spans two SSRA1 anchors to create a certified attachment point for horizontal lifeline systems.
- SSRA HLL 100-foot Temporary Horizontal Lifeline Kit: A complete, portable lifeline system for up to two workers that allows safe lateral movement across wide roof sections without panel penetrations.
- Super Anchor 120-foot Permanent Horizontal Lifeline Kit: A long-term safety solution featuring galvanized steel cables and non-penetrating riser posts for facilities requiring frequent maintenance access.
- Ridge Pro Steep Assist Anchor: A ridge-mounted anchorage device that hooks over the peak to provide safe vertical lifeline access on pitches from 6:12 to 12:12.
Proper Attachment: Set-Screws and Torque Requirements
- Cupped-Tip Stainless Steel Set-Screws: Use these screws exclusively on 22-gauge steel panels. Torque these screws to 90 inch-pounds.
- Nylon-Tipped Set-Screws: Apply these tips to 22-gauge or 24-gauge steel panels to achieve certified holding power without marking the finish. Torque these screws to 180-200 inch-pounds.
- Maintenance: Treat nylon tips as consumables. Replace these tips every 3 to 5 uses to maintain maximum grip strength.
CRITICAL WARNING: NO IMPACT GUNS
Never use an impact gun to install set-screws. Over-torquing with an impact driver crushes the standing-seam rib, causing permanent panel deformation and compromising the anchor's certified holding power. This error damages the anchor hardware, compromises worker safety, and voids the manufacturer's warranty. Always use a calibrated torque wrench for final installation.

The High Cost of Cutting Corners with Untested Safety Hardware
Cheap, imported anchor products often mimic the style of professional equipment while skipping the stringent, third-party destructive testing required to guarantee 5,000 lbs. performance. Our American-engineered SSRA system has undergone rigorous validation at ISO 17025-accredited laboratories to ensure it can withstand forces far beyond the minimum regulatory requirements. Entrusting your crew to an anchor with no traceable manufacturing history is a massive liability. You can verify the structural integrity of a professional-grade system by reviewing our comprehensive independent laboratory test reports.

Safety Tips For Standing Seam Roofs
- Promote a Culture of Safety: Quick morning check-ins on access routes, wind conditions, staging areas, and panel transitions help crews anticipate problems before they occur.
- Prioritize Ladder Safety Training: Verifying the ladder angle, securing the top, and confirming solid ground contact eliminates risk during the most overlooked phase of the job.
- Use Specialized Anchor Systems for Standing Seam Roofs: Fall protection anchors built specifically for these systems attach without causing seam damage or interfering with the panel's ability to expand and contract.
- Equip Workers with High-Quality Safety Gear: Comfortable, properly sized gear reduces fatigue and keeps attention where it belongs. SRLs, such as the Malta Dynamics Pygmy Hog or Edgehog, should be function-checked before use.
- Ensure Proper Footwear for Stability: Footwear with aggressive tread, solid ankle support, and firm soles helps maintain balance during transitions between seams and walkboards.
- Develop OSHA-Compliant Safety Plans: Clear documentation outlines where anchors go, how lifelines run, and who takes charge during a rescue.
- Set Up Protective Guardrail Barriers for Work Zones: Around skylights or roof edges, guardrails turn high-risk areas into clearly defined hazardous zones that workers instinctively respect.
- Install Permanent Roof Anchor Systems: Super Anchor permanent lifeline systems eliminate the need for repeated setup and discourage improvised tie-off solutions.
- Encourage the Use of Trauma Straps: Trauma straps give a suspended worker a way to stand and maintain circulation while rescue plans move into action.
- Consult Experts for Curved Metal Panels: A fall protection professional familiar with curved systems should evaluate attachment options before work begins to protect workers and roof performance.
