Frequently Asked Questions

What is the DBI-SALA 3100538?
DBI-SALA Nano-Lok Personal Self-Retracting Lifeline, Web Aluminum Rebar Hook, 3100538, 6 ft., Class 1, ANSI. It is a single-leg personal self-retracting lifeline with a 6 ft web lifeline, rated to 420 lb.
What does Class 1 mean under ANSI/ASSP Z359.14-2021?
Class 1 devices anchor at or above the dorsal D-ring with free fall limited to 2 ft. They are not rated for foot-level tie-off or leading edge work; those applications require a Class 2 device such as the Nano-Lok Edge. The 2021 standard replaced the old Class A and B designations.
What is the capacity of the 3100538?
420 lb including the worker, clothing, tools, and equipment.
How does an SRL compare to a shock absorbing lanyard?
The speed sensing brake arrests a fall within inches instead of feet, cutting required fall clearance dramatically compared to a 6 ft lanyard with a deceleration pack. On lower working heights, that difference decides whether a fall is survivable.
What connectors does the 3100538 have?
The anchorage end carries the standard connector and the lifeline end carries rebar snap hook. Match connectors to your anchor hardware before ordering.
Is the 3100538 RFID equipped?
Yes. The built-in RFID tag works with 3M Connected Safety ID, letting safety managers scan the unit to log documented inspections digitally and manage fall protection inventory across the fleet.
How often does the 3100538 need inspection?
Inspect before each use: housing, full lifeline payout, energy absorber and impact indicator, retraction, and both connectors. A competent person must also inspect the unit on a documented schedule per ANSI/ASSP Z359.14 and the manual. Any deployed impact indicator or failed check removes the unit from service.
