RPA092TB Tie Back Twin Leg Web 9 ft SRL with Tie Back Hook Ends

The Frontline RPA092TB is a compact, lightweight twin leg aramid-web self-retracting lifeline: a 9 ft UHMWPE and polyester webbing lifeline in a small thermoplastic housing that hangs close to the body and locks in inches if a fall starts. The tie-back hook lets each leg wrap rated structure and clip back onto itself - the SRL is its own anchor connector.

Stainless steel and non-corrosive components run throughout, the connector strength is 5,000 lbs, and the device carries a 310 lb max capacity and a 42 in maximum arrest distance. Built to ANSI Z359.14, aligning with OSHA 1926 Subpart M and 1910.

Who Needs This Product

This product is a self-retracting lifeline (SRL) - a fall arrest connecting device that pays out and retracts automatically, locking in inches if a fall starts. Steel erectors, deck crews, and maintenance workers clip in for hands-free protection with minimal fall distance. You still need a full body harness and a rated anchor to complete the system.

Features

Compact and light

The aramid web and small thermoplastic housing keep weight and bulk off the harness.

Aramid webbing lifeline

High-strength UHMWPE and polyester web retracts and locks in a fall.

Stainless internals

Non-corrosive components for long service life.

Tie-back rated

Wrap rated structure and clip the hook back on its own leg - no separate anchor strap.

Twin leg, 100 percent tie-off

Two lifelines leapfrog anchor to anchor.

42 in arrest

Fast lockup per the spec sheet.

Mind the anchor height and the edge. Standard SRLs are rated for overhead anchorage; foot-level or leading-edge use requires an LE-rated device. Confirm anchor placement, swing-fall, and clearance below the work surface before each use - run the Fall Protection Calculator below, and rig per the Frontline manual.

Compliance Standards

How to Use the RPA092TB

Follow the manufacturer's manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check the aramid webbing, braking, housing, and hooks before each use.
  2. Mount to the harness. Attach both housings to the harness per the manual.
  3. Tie back or anchor. Wrap rated structure and clip the hook back on its leg, or connect to a rated anchor.
  4. Check the gates. Confirm every hook is closed and locked.
  5. Verify clearance. Confirm fall clearance and swing-fall below - run the calculator below.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every 6 months. Pull the equipment from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Lifeline webbing/cable: cuts, fraying, abrasion, burns, or chemical damage.
  • Braking: lifeline must lock sharply on a quick pull test.
  • Housing: cracks, loose fasteners, or damaged lifeline exit.
  • Energy absorber: deployment or torn cover.
  • Hooks and swivels: deformation, corrosion, gates that fail to lock.

Retire the equipment immediately after any fall arrest event or if any inspection point fails. Destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Frontline RPA092TB twin-leg aramid SRL?
The RPA092TB is a twin-leg, 9 ft self-retracting lifeline (SRL) built on aramid-reinforced webbing with a UHMWPE and polyester core, housed in a compact thermoplastic case that locks in place if a fall starts. Its two legs end in tie-back hooks for 100% tie-off, and the aramid web resists abrasion and heat better than standard polyester. It carries a 5,000 lb connector strength, a 310 lb capacity, and ANSI Z359.14-2021 certification.
How do the tie-back hooks work - do I need a separate anchor?
Each leg's tie-back hook wraps a rated structural member - a beam, column, or rebar - and clips back onto its own leg, so the SRL anchors directly to structure without a separate anchorage connector. Only use tie-back-rated hooks this way, and choke onto a member strong enough for the load. Confirm the anchor point per the Frontline manual before trusting the connection.
Why choose a twin-leg, 100% tie-off SRL?
Two legs let you stay continuously protected while you reposition: clip the second leg to the next anchor before releasing the first, so you are never unhooked at height. That makes the RPA092TB ideal for climbing, traversing steel, and moving across a structure where a single-leg device would leave gaps in protection.
What weight capacity and connector strength does it have?
It is rated for one worker with a combined weight - body, clothing, tools, and equipment - of up to 310 lb, in line with ANSI Z359.14, and its connectors carry a 5,000 lb minimum strength. It is not rated for two workers or for lifting or lowering materials.
Is the RPA092TB rated for leading-edge or foot-level use?
No - it is a standard overhead-anchorage SRL meant to be tied off at or above the dorsal D-ring. For foot-level tie-off or work over a sharp or leading edge, use a leading-edge (LE / Class 2) rated device such as a Frontline RPG-series LE cable SRL. Running a non-LE lifeline over an unprotected edge can cut it in a fall.
How much fall clearance do I need below the work surface?
ANSI Z359.14 caps SRL maximum arrest distance at 42 in and average arrest force at 1,350 lbf; the certified figures for this unit are on the RPA092TB test report. Total required clearance also includes dorsal D-ring and harness stretch, your anchor height relative to the D-ring, and a safety margin. Run the Fall Protection Calculator on this page for an exact number for your setup.
Is the RPA092TB OSHA compliant and third-party tested?
Yes - it is built and certified to ANSI Z359.14-2021 and supports compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M for construction and 29 CFR 1910 for general industry. Independent third-party test results are available in the RPA092TB test report linked in the Submittals section.
