Mining Vest Climbing, Non-Corrosive Safety Harness
The 3M DBI-SALA ExoFit X50 delivers the trusted dependability of the Delta harness with the usability of the ExoFit X-Series, in a simple design built so new and occasional users can work at height with confidence. Corrosion-resistant PVC coated hardware, a polyester web loop dorsal attachment and built-in suspension trauma straps suit wet, corrosive mine environments.
This model carries Back Web Loop, Hip attachment elements with a coated pass-through chest buckle and coated pass-through leg buckles. Certified to ANSI/ASSP Z359.11-2021 and OSHA 1910.140 and 1926.502, rated 130 to 310 lb under ANSI and up to 420 lb under OSHA. In stock sizes: 2X-Large.

Who Needs This Product
Underground and surface mining crews whose hardware is exposed to water, salt and corrosive air, and who need a lightweight climbing vest that will not rust in service.
Features
Paired Hip D-Rings
Alloy steel hip D-rings rated 5,000 lbf are used as a pair for work positioning: rebar tying, form walls, pole and structure climbing. Back them up with a fall arrest system.
Non-Corrosive Coated Hardware
PVC coated steel buckles and adjusters resist corrosion in wet, salty and chemical-laden mine air. The dorsal attachment is a polyester web loop rated 5,000 lbf instead of a steel D-ring.
Suspension Trauma Straps
Low-profile trauma straps ride zipped into the harness. After a fall the worker clips them together and stands in the loop to take pressure off the legs while waiting for rescue.
Auto-Resetting Lanyard Keepers
Lanyard keepers park unused snap hooks and carabiners and reset on their own. They are parking points only, never attachment points.
3M Connected Safety ID
An integrated RFID tag and protected labels make inventory and inspection records fast to log with a 3M scanner.
Hip D-rings are for work positioning only. Use them as a pair, never for fall arrest, and keep a backup fall arrest system connected to the dorsal D-ring. Do not park unused lanyard legs on the hip rings. Retire the harness after any fall arrest.
Compliance Standards
ANSI/ASSP Z359.11-2021
Certified full body harness, ANSI capacity 130 to 310 lb (59 to 140 kg) including clothing and tools.
OSHA 1910.140 and 1926.502
Meets OSHA personal fall protection requirements for general industry and construction, rated up to 420 lb (190 kg).
1,800 lbf System Limit
Use with connecting subsystems that limit maximum arrest force to 1,800 lbf (8 kN) or less, per ANSI Z359.11 Annex A.
Annual Competent Person Inspection
User inspection before every use plus a documented competent person inspection at least once a year.
Typical Applications
How to Use
Donning and fit steps from the 3M ExoFit X50 user instructions (form 5908600):
- Inspect first. Check webbing, stitching, impact indicators, D-rings, buckles and labels per the inspection log. Disconnect all buckles and empty your pockets.
- Put it on. Lift the harness by the dorsal D-ring, slip on the torso straps and let it hang from your shoulders with the chest buckle in front. Check that no straps are twisted.
- Buckle legs, then chest. Secure the leg straps first, then the chest buckle.
- Adjust the fit. Set the sub-pelvic strap just below the buttocks, snug the leg straps, then the torso straps. Stow loose strap ends in the keepers.
- Check the web loop. The dorsal web loop sits between your shoulder blades. Have a second trained worker verify the fit.
- Connect the system. Attach your SRL or energy absorbing lanyard to the dorsal web loop, anchored to a rated anchorage, with a rescue plan in place.
Inspection and Retirement
The user inspects the harness before each use, and a competent person other than the user inspects it at least once a year under ANSI and OSHA. Keep a written log for each harness; the RFID tag makes that fast.
- Hardware: D-rings, buckles and adjusters free of cracks, distortion, sharp edges and corrosion; buckles engage and release properly.
- Webbing and stitching: no cuts, frays, broken fibers, tears, abrasion, heavy soiling, mold, burns or discoloration; no pulled or cut stitches.
- Impact indicators: all stitched impact indicators intact.
- Labels: present and legible, including the RFID tag.
- Attached components: trauma straps and keepers in working order.
Retirement triggers: any fall arrest or impact force, a failed inspection, or damage beyond the limits in the manual. The harness is not repairable. Clean with mild bleach-free detergent, air-dry below 130°F and store out of direct sunlight.
