How to Inspect Your SRL:
- Examine the metal components, such as the fall indicator and snap hook. If the fall indicator shows red, remove the device from service. Check that the snap hook opens and closes properly without deformation.
- Inspect the housing to ensure all fasteners are secure and the label contains accurate information, such as the serial and batch numbers.
- Inspect the entire cable for frays, cuts, or burns. If the cable is tangled in the housing, it should no longer be used for fall arrest.
- Perform a strike test by pulling downward on the cable to test the braking system without triggering the fall indicator.
