FallTech 82543 and C82543 4 ft ViewPack Single-Leg Energy-Absorbing Lanyard with Steel Rebar Hook
The FallTech ViewPack is a 4 ft single-leg energy-absorbing lanyard that connects a full-body harness to a rated anchorage; in a fall, the internal tear-away energy absorber pays out to keep arrest forces on your body within safe limits. An alloy steel snap hook attaches to the harness and a transverse-load-rated steel rebar hook makes the anchorage connection. Choose your certification at checkout: the 82543 is certified to ANSI Z359.13-2013 for US jobsites, and the C82543 to CSA Z259.11-17 for Canada. Both options are the same physical lanyard.
The patented ViewPack cover has an inspection window and WrapPack label protection, so a competent person can verify the absorber and read the labels without opening the pack. Heavy-duty 1 in polyester webbing runs the full length. The 4 ft length suits work where fall clearances are restricted, and the rebar hook reaches large-opening anchorages. Rated for a worker up to 350 lb combined weight, with a 6 ft maximum free fall. Certified to ANSI Z359.13-2013 (model 82543) or CSA Z259.11-17 (model C82543), aligning with OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.66.

Who Needs This Product
This product is an energy-absorbing lanyard (EAL), a fall-arrest connecting device that limits the forces on your body when a fall is arrested. Rebar, concrete, and structural crews use the rebar-hook version to connect to large-opening anchorages where a snap hook will not fit. Pick the ANSI version (82543) for the US or the CSA version (C82543) for Canada. You still need a certified full-body harness and a rated anchorage to complete the personal fall-arrest system.
Features
ViewPack inspection window
The patented cover lets a competent person inspect the energy absorber without opening the pack.
WrapPack label protection
The cover encloses and protects the product labels so the required markings stay legible over the service life.
Tear-away energy absorber
The polyester tear-away absorber deploys in a fall to keep arrest forces within ANSI and CSA limits.
Steel rebar hook
A transverse-load-rated steel rebar hook reaches large-opening anchorages; an alloy steel snap hook attaches to the harness.
Heavy-duty 1 in webbing
Abrasion and UV resistant polyester web carries a 5,000 lb minimum static strength.
Dual certified ANSI and CSA
Available ANSI Z359.13-2013 (82543) or CSA Z259.11-17 (C82543), one lanyard for both sides of the border.
Confirm your fall clearance before every use. This lanyard allows up to 6 ft of free fall and the absorber can deploy up to 4.5 ft, so the minimum required fall clearance is about 18 ft below the work surface in an overhead configuration. Anchor overhead where possible, connect only to a certified full-body harness dorsal D-ring, and run the Fall Protection Calculator below before you rig.
Compliance Standards
ANSI Z359.13-2013
American National Standard for personal energy absorbers and lanyards (model 82543).
CSA Z259.11-17
Canadian standard for personal energy absorbers and lanyards (model C82543). Certified by the IAS-accredited FallTech test lab, TL-594.
OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502
Federal construction fall protection requirements.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.66
General industry personal fall protection requirements.
Typical Applications
How to Use the 82543
Follow the FallTech instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.
- Inspect. Check the webbing, stitching, and connectors, and view the energy absorber through the ViewPack window before each use.
- Anchor. Connect the anchorage end to a rated anchorage, positioned overhead where possible to limit free fall.
- Connect to the harness. Attach the harness end to the dorsal D-ring of a certified full-body harness.
- Confirm the connections. Verify every hook gate is fully closed and locked.
- Verify clearance. Confirm fall clearance and swing-fall below the work surface, and run the calculator below.
Inspection and Retirement
Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at intervals set by your site conditions and at least annually. Pull the lanyard from service for any of the conditions below.
- Webbing: cuts, fraying, abrasion, burns, or chemical damage.
- Energy absorber: any sign of deployment, or a torn or missing ViewPack cover.
- Stitching: pulled, cut, or broken threads.
- Hooks: deformation, corrosion, or gates that fail to close and lock.
- Labels: illegible or missing markings.
Retire the lanyard immediately after any fall-arrest event, or if any inspection point fails. Destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.
