FallTech ViewPack Energy-Absorbing Lanyards

FallTech 8260734 and C8260734 4 ft ViewPack Y-Leg 100% Tie-Off Energy-Absorbing Lanyard

The FallTech ViewPack Y-leg is a 4 ft twin-leg 100% tie-off energy-absorbing lanyard. Its two anchorage legs let you stay continuously connected to a rated anchor while you move, and in a fall the internal tear-away energy absorber pays out to keep arrest forces within safe limits. The two legs terminate in steel rebar hooks for large-opening anchorages. Choose your certification at checkout: the 8260734 is certified to ANSI Z359.13-2013 for US jobsites, and the C8260734 to CSA Z259.11-17 for Canada. Both options are the same physical lanyard.

The patented ViewPack cover has an inspection window and WrapPack label protection, so a competent person can verify the absorber and read the labels without opening the pack. A single alloy steel snap hook connects to the harness dorsal D-ring. Rated for a worker up to 350 lb combined weight, with a 6 ft maximum free fall. Certified to ANSI Z359.13-2013 (model 8260734) or CSA Z259.11-17 (model C8260734), aligning with OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.66.

Who Needs This Product

This product is a twin-leg (Y-leg) energy-absorbing lanyard for 100% tie-off in a shorter 4 ft length. Steel erectors and structural crews use it to stay continuously connected in tighter clearances. Pick the ANSI version (8260734) for the US or the CSA version (C8260734) for Canada. You still need a certified full-body harness and rated anchorages to complete the personal fall-arrest system.

Features

ViewPack inspection window

The patented cover lets a competent person inspect the energy absorber without opening the pack.

WrapPack label protection

The cover encloses and protects the product labels so the required markings stay legible over the service life.

Tear-away energy absorber

The polyester tear-away absorber deploys in a fall to keep arrest forces within ANSI and CSA limits.

Steel rebar hooks

Transverse-load-rated steel rebar hooks make the anchorage connections on both legs for large-opening anchors.

100% tie-off design

Two anchorage legs let you stay connected to a rated anchor while you move between anchor points.

Dual certified ANSI and CSA

Available ANSI Z359.13-2013 or CSA Z259.11-17, one lanyard for both sides of the border.

Confirm your fall clearance before every use. This lanyard allows up to 6 ft of free fall and the absorber can deploy up to 4.5 ft, so the minimum required fall clearance is about 18 ft below the work surface in an overhead configuration. Anchor overhead where possible, connect only to a certified full-body harness dorsal D-ring, and run the Fall Protection Calculator below before you rig.

Compliance Standards

How to Use the 8260734

Follow the FallTech instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check the webbing, stitching, energy absorber, and all connectors before each use.
  2. Anchor. Connect both anchorage legs to rated anchors for 100% tie-off, or one leg while transferring.
  3. Connect to the harness. Attach the harness connector to the dorsal D-ring of a certified full-body harness.
  4. Confirm the connections. Verify every hook gate is fully closed and locked.
  5. Verify clearance. Confirm fall clearance and swing-fall below the work surface, and run the calculator below.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at intervals set by your site conditions and at least annually. Pull the lanyard from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Webbing: cuts, fraying, abrasion, burns, or chemical damage.
  • Energy absorber: any sign of deployment, or a torn or damaged cover.
  • Stitching: pulled, cut, or broken threads.
  • Hooks: deformation, corrosion, or gates that fail to close and lock.
  • Labels: illegible or missing markings.

Retire the lanyard immediately after any fall-arrest event, or if any inspection point fails. Destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which certification options are available?
Two versions on one page: the 8260734 is certified to ANSI Z359.13-2013 for US jobsites, and the C8260734 to CSA Z259.11-17 for Canada. Select your standard at checkout; both are the same physical lanyard.
What is the rated capacity?
One worker up to 350 lb combined weight of the user, tools, and clothing.
How much fall clearance does it need?
Plan on about 18 ft of clearance below the work surface in an overhead configuration, based on a 6 ft free fall plus up to 4.5 ft of absorber deployment. Use the Fall Protection Calculator to confirm the exact value for your worker weight and anchor position.
What connects at each end?
A single alloy steel snap hook at the harness end, and two anchorage legs each with a transverse-load-rated steel rebar hook, so you stay connected while transferring between anchors.
What does 100% tie-off mean?
A twin-leg (Y-leg) lanyard has two anchorage legs. You keep one leg clipped to a rated anchor at all times while moving the other, so you are never disconnected during a transfer.
Do I need a harness with this lanyard?
Yes. An energy-absorbing lanyard is a connecting device only. You need a certified full-body harness and a rated anchorage to complete the personal fall-arrest system.
What is the difference between fall arrest and fall restraint?
Fall arrest catches a worker after a fall happens; fall restraint prevents the worker from reaching the fall hazard in the first place. Use the Fall Protection Calculator below to size the right system for your job.

Specifying Lanyards for Your Crew?

Lanyards, harnesses, and anchors have to match the work height, the standard you work to, and the fall clearance below. Confirm your application and anchorage with us and we will walk through the kit list so the right equipment ships together.
