How to Use

Follow the FallTech instruction manual (MSRD32). The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Verify the match. Confirm the twin-leg device is the FR84106TP3S field-replaceable model.
  2. Inspect the new leg. Check the lifeline, retraction, lock, and hook before installation.
  3. Remove the damaged leg. Release the SpeedLink connection per the FallTech repair procedure.
  4. Install this unit. Seat the SpeedLink connection and confirm positive engagement.
  5. Function test. Pull the lifeline sharply to confirm lock-up, complete a documented inspection, then return the device to service.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least annually. Remove the SRD from service for any of the conditions below.

  • EdgeCore lifeline: cuts, broken jacket strands, kinks, burns, chemical damage.
  • Retraction and lock: a lifeline that will not retract or lock on a sharp pull.
  • Energy absorber: a deployed or torn tear-away cover.
  • SpeedLink connection, housing, and hardware: cracks, deformation, or corrosion.
  • Hooks: bent gates, corrosion, or gates that will not lock.
  • Labels: illegible or missing markings.

Remove the SRD from service immediately after any fall-arrest event, and destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.
