Frontline ToolGrip Tool Tethering

ACTLS222 ToolGrip 11 lbs Twin Tool Lanyard, 6-Pack

The Frontline ACTLS222 tethers two tools from one belt point: a convenient Y-leg stretch lanyard with elasticated webbing that contracts to 2.79 ft at rest and extends to 4.43 ft in use, so neither leg dangles into your work.

A lightweight high-strength aluminum carabiner makes the belt connection, the 0.78 in polyester webbing carries an 11 lb capacity, and the whole lanyard weighs 0.2 lbs. ANSI/ISEA 121-2018 dropped object prevention.

Compliance Standards

American National Standard for dropped object prevention solutions - the consensus standard for tool tethering equipment.

Falling object protection requirements in steel erection; tethering supports compliance.

How to Use the ACTLS222

Follow the manufacturer's manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check webbing, stitching, and the carabiner before each use.
  2. Anchor the carabiner. Clip to a work belt D-ring or ACTLDR anchor.
  3. Connect tool one. Attach the first leg to the tool attachment point.
  4. Connect tool two. Attach the second leg to the second tool.
  5. Tug test. Verify all three connections before working at height.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use. Pull the equipment from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Webbing and elastic: cuts, fraying, abrasion, burns, or loss of elasticity.
  • Stitching: broken, pulled, or abraded threads.
  • Hardware: deformation, cracks, corrosion, or gates and locks that fail to close.
  • Attachment points: loose tape bonds, worn loops, or damaged D-rings.
  • Markings: labels must be present and legible.

Remove from service immediately if any inspection point fails or after the tether arrests a dropped tool with visible damage. ToolGrip products are tool tethering equipment - never use them for personal fall protection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why a twin lanyard?
One belt anchor, two tethered tools - half the hardware on your belt for two-tool tasks.
What is the capacity?
11 lbs per the Frontline spec sheet - sized for hand tools, not power tools.
Will the legs tangle?
The elasticated webbing keeps each leg contracted to 2.79 ft until you extend it, which keeps dangle and tangle to a minimum.
How do I attach tools without anchor points?
Wrap them with ACQW12 anchoring tool tape to create rated attachment points in seconds.
Is tool tethering required by OSHA?
OSHA 1926.759 requires protection from falling objects in steel erection, and General Duty Clause citations for dropped tools are common. ANSI/ISEA 121-2018 is the voluntary consensus standard for dropped object prevention - tethering tools at height is rapidly becoming a site requirement on major projects.
Has it been tested?
An INSPEC test report for the ToolGrip tool tether family (model designation ACTLS22) is linked in Submittals.
