Adjustable Steel Roof Bracket, 10 in

The Guardian 2500 is a three-position residential roof bracket that holds a standard 2 in x 10 in plank at 30, 45, or 60 degrees, creating a solid, level working platform on pitched roofs. Heavy-duty 12-gauge steel construction stands up to season after season of staging, and the dual mounting options allow installation and removal without damaging shingles.

This bracket ships as a single unit, stocked in our own warehouse as the same bracket used in our SSRA2 roof jack assemblies, so you can buy exactly the count your staging plan needs. Capacity is one worker per 8 ft of staging plus 40 lbs of material, with brackets nailed through the roof surface into the rafters using 20-penny nails.

Who Needs This Product

Roof brackets are staging equipment for roofing crews: they hold planks that give workers a place to stand, stack shingles, and catch debris on pitched roofs. We stock the 2500 in our own warehouse because it is the bracket in our SSRA2 roof jack assemblies, and we sell it as a single unit so you can buy the exact count your staging run needs. Roof brackets are NOT fall protection; every worker on the roof still needs an anchor, harness, and lifeline.

Features

Three-position adjustment

Set the platform arm to 30, 45, or 60 degrees to keep the plank level across a range of common roof pitches.

Standard 2x10 plank support

The 10 in platform accommodates standard 2 in x 10 in planks for a stable working surface.

Heavy-duty 12-gauge steel

Built for long-term durability and repeated use on demanding jobsites.

Shingle-safe mounting

Dual mounting options allow secure setup and removal without damaging the finished roof surface.

Rafter-nailed security

Teardrop holes and slots position 20-penny nails through the roof surface into the rafter below.

Warehouse stocked, sold as singles

The same bracket used in our SSRA2 roof jack assemblies, stocked locally and sold by the each, so a staging plan never rounds up to a forced pack.

Roof brackets are not fall protection. Do not use this product as fall protection. Every nail must penetrate both the roof surface and the rafter below, bracket spacing must not exceed 8 ft, and workers above the staging still require a complete personal fall arrest system per OSHA 1926.501.

Compliance Standards

OSHA 1926.451 staging practice

Roof bracket scaffolds must follow the scaffold requirements for platform construction and support.

OSHA 1926.501 fall protection

Rafter attachment required

All nails must penetrate the roof surface and the structural rafter below, per the instruction sheet.

Capacity rating

One worker per 8 ft of staging plus 40 lbs of material, with maximum 8 ft bracket spacing.

Mounting Overview

Mounting must follow the Guardian instruction sheet (1600205). The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Locate the rafter. Position each bracket so the nails will penetrate both the roof surface and the rafter below.
  2. Nail the bracket. Use 20-penny nails in all teardrop holes on the left or all slots on the right side of the mounting plate.
  3. Set the angle. Adjust the platform support arm to 30, 45, or 60 degrees to match the pitch and create a level walk surface.
  4. Space the run. Set brackets at 8 ft maximum spacing along the staging run.
  5. Deck the platform. Install 2 in x 10 in planks fully decked and level across the brackets.
  6. Protect the crew. Confirm every worker above the staging is tied off to a compliant personal fall arrest system.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect brackets and staging before each use. Remove a bracket from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Bent, cracked, or deformed bracket steel or platform arm.
  • Damaged or elongated nail holes and slots.
  • Corrosion that pits or weakens the 12-gauge steel.
  • Loose or damaged angle-position hardware.
  • Planks that are split, sagging, or not fully decked.

Retirement triggers: any bracket that has been overloaded or shows deformation, or any condition where the inspector cannot positively verify the bracket is fit for service.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the 2500 sold?
As a single bracket, shipped from our own warehouse stock. It is the same bracket we build into our SSRA2 roof jack assemblies for standing seam roofs, so buy exactly the count your staging run needs: a typical run uses one bracket every 8 ft or less.
Is a roof bracket fall protection?
No. Roof brackets are staging equipment, and Guardian warns explicitly not to use this product as fall protection. Workers on the roof still require a personal fall arrest system: an anchor, a full body harness, and a lifeline or SRL, per OSHA 1926.501.
What angles does the 2500 bracket support?
The platform support arm adjusts to 30, 45, or 60 degrees, allowing a level, fully decked walk surface across a variety of common residential roof pitches.
What size plank does the bracket hold?
The 10 in platform is designed for standard 2 in x 10 in planks. Planks should be fully decked and level, with bracket spacing at 8 ft or less.
What is the capacity of a staging run?
Capacity is one worker per 8 ft of staging plus 40 lbs of material. Do not exceed this loading, and keep bracket spacing at 8 ft maximum.
How does the bracket attach to the roof?
Use 20-penny nails in all the teardrop holes on the left or all the slots on the right side of the mounting plate, positioned so every nail penetrates both the roof surface and the rafter below. The dual mounting options allow removal without damaging shingles.
Can I remove the brackets without damaging the finished roof?
Yes. The slot-style mounting is designed for easy installation and removal without shingle damage, which is why the 2500 is a favorite for staging on finished and re-roofed surfaces.
