Halo Roof Anchor, 1/4 in Thick Steel

The Guardian 00482 Halo is the heavy plate among residential roof anchors: 1/4 in thick steel formed into a ring-topped anchor that fastens over the structure and presents a generous connection ring for hooks, carabiners, and rope terminations alike.

Installed per the manual, the Halo serves one worker under OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.140, with full documentation linked below.

Who Needs This Product

The Halo suits crews that want more metal and a bigger target: the ring top accepts large rescue hooks and doubled connections that flat D-ring anchors pinch, and the 1/4 in plate shrugs off the tear-off abuse that bends lighter anchors. It installs over the peak or per the field details in the manual and pairs with any Guardian vertical lifeline.

Installation Overview

Installation must follow the Guardian instruction manual for this anchor. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect first. Check the anchor body, connection point, and hardware before every installation.
  2. Verify the structure. The supporting structure must meet the strength requirements in the instruction manual.
  3. Install per the manual. Follow the substrate, fastener, and orientation requirements exactly; fill every required fastener position.
  4. Verify the connection. Confirm the anchor is fully seated and the connection point is accessible and undamaged.
  5. Connect the system. Attach a compatible connecting device and verify the complete personal fall arrest system with a competent person.
  6. Check clearance. Confirm fall clearance below the work area and minimize swing fall hazards before work begins.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before every use, and have a competent person perform a documented inspection at least every six months under ANSI Z359.2 practice. Remove the anchor from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Cracks, corrosion, or deformation of the body, connection point, or welds.
  • Loose, missing, damaged, or worn hardware and fasteners.
  • Elongation or wear at the D-ring or connection eye.
  • Missing or illegible labels.
  • Any evidence the anchor has arrested a fall.

Retirement triggers: any fall event on the anchor, or any condition where the inspector cannot positively verify it is fit for service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Halo different from other roof anchors?
Thickness and the ring: 1/4 in steel plate construction with a full ring connection point instead of a flat D-ring. The ring accepts larger hooks and hardware, and the plate takes jobsite abuse that bends lighter anchors.
What fasteners does the Halo require?
Install with the fastener type, count, and substrate requirements in the instruction manual, filling every required position with new fasteners. The structure must meet the strength requirements for a single-worker anchorage.
What connects to the ring?
Any compliant snap hook, carabiner, or rope termination sized for the ring, including the snap hooks on Guardian VLA lifelines and VL58 ropes. Verify gate compatibility so the connector cannot side-load.
Which standards does this product meet?
It is compliant with OSHA 1910.140, OSHA 1926.502, ANSI Z359.18-2017 when used within a complete, competent-person verified fall protection system, and Guardian products are tested in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
When should this product be retired?
Retire it after any fall event, any failed inspection item, or whenever an inspector cannot positively verify it is fit for service. The inspection criteria in the linked documentation define the pass-fail conditions.
Is documentation available for submittal packages?
Yes. The manufacturer documentation linked on this page covers installation, specifications, and compliance, and every file is hosted on our site for direct download into your submittal package.
How fast does this product ship?
It is stocked for shipment in 1 business day, and shipping cost is calculated based on the delivery location at checkout.
