Super Anchor Safety HLL Rigging

1050-GC Galvanized HLL Rigging Kit for CRO Anchors

The Super Anchor 1050-GC supplies the factory-specified rigging for CRO anchors built with No. 1093/1093-S 2.0 inch loop tops. Every component matches the 02-2021 CRA HLL Rigging Manual, so the hardware chain (couplers, energy absorber, turnbuckle, thimbles, and clamps) assembles in the engineered order without substitutions.

What is included: 4 No. 5010-SM O-rings, 1 No. 1058 galvanized turnbuckle with 5/8 x 3 inch bolts, 2 No. 1087-SC absorber couplers with bolts, 1 No. 1065-AS spring energy absorber, 2 No. 1086-S couplers with bolts, 2 No. 1057 eye thimbles, 6 No. 1056 cable clamps, and the 4-way top 9/16 x 3 inch bolt. Cable is ordered separately by the foot (No. 1055-X galvanized), cut to your run length. Engineered runs carry 2 workers in fall arrest or 4 in fall restraint per the rigging manual performance specification.

Who Needs This Product

This hardware is for crews building engineered horizontal lifelines on Super Anchor CRA and CRO anchor systems: typically a 120 ft run with end anchors, pass-thru intermediates every 20 to 30 ft, and this rigging at the terminations. The system requires design by a qualified or competent person, and Super Anchor plan service and third-party engineering are available. Every worker on the line wears a full body harness with a personal energy absorber or an SRL with an internal absorber.

Features

Factory-specified components

Exactly the parts the 02-2021 rigging manual calls out, in the specified order of assembly.

Spring energy absorber with gauge

The 1065-AS tension indicator gauge closes at approximately 250 to 300 lb of turnbuckle tension, showing correct line tension at a glance.

Stainless couplers

11 gauge 304 stainless coupler links with certified bolts and lock nuts.

Field swage hardware

Eye thimbles and cable clamps build the A-end termination on site with a 45 ft-lb torque specification.

O-ring travel

No. 5010-SM O-rings ride the cable through pass-thru tops so workers never disconnect mid-run.

Turnbuckle tensioning

The included turnbuckle takes out line slack with up to 11 inches of adjustment.

Installation Overview

Rigging sequence per the 02-2021 manual (B-end first):

  1. Rig the B-end first: factory swaged eye thimble to the coupler narrow end, coupler wide end to the loop top or 4-way with the specified bolts.
  2. Feed the cable through all pass-thru tops, installing the 4 No. 5010-SM O-rings on the cable before the clamps.
  3. Field swage the A-end: 3 cable clamps on saddles on the live side, 10 inch dead side, clamps at 2.0 and 4.0 inch centers.
  4. Attach the A-end coupler, spring energy absorber, and turnbuckle to the end anchor loop top.
  5. Tighten clamp bolts alternately with a 3/4 inch socket and torque each nut to 45 ft-lb.
  6. Adjust the turnbuckle until the energy absorber tension gauge is fully deployed with no line slack, and confirm 1/8 inch bolt thread penetration everywhere.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before installation and each use, with documented annual inspections. Remove the anchor from service when any of the following apply:

  • Any component was subjected to a fall; the HLL must be removed from service and tagged DO NOT USE.
  • The energy absorber shows deployment or the tension gauge will not close.
  • Couplers, turnbuckles, or clamps are bent, cracked, or corroded.
  • Cable shows broken wires, kinks, or crushed sections.
  • Bolt thread penetration is under 1/8 inch past the lock nut.

Tag anchors removed from service to prevent further use until inspected by a qualified or competent person.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I still need to complete the lifeline?
Cable, anchors, and design: order No. 1055-X galvanized cable by the foot cut to your run length, CRA or CRO anchors at the ends with pass-thru intermediates every 20 to 30 ft, and a layout by a qualified or competent person. This kit covers the rigging hardware at the terminations.
How many workers can use the finished run?
2 workers in fall arrest or 4 in fall restraint per run, each at up to 310 lb including tools, with 1,200 lb average peak force and a 6 ft maximum free fall per the rigging manual performance specification. Make sure the connecting hardware and anchorage suit your application before you attach a lanyard or lifeline.
How do I know the line is tensioned correctly?
Adjust the turnbuckle until the 1065-AS spring absorber tension gauge deploys fully with no remaining line slack; the gauge closes at approximately 250 to 300 lb of applied tension. The specifications listed on this page outline the build details you need for your application. Keep the manufacturer instructions with the equipment so anyone using it can reference the approved procedures.
Galvanized or stainless, which do I need?
Galvanized handles standard exterior service at lower cost, and stainless is the choice for coastal, chemical, and wash-down environments or wherever the anchors themselves are stainless. Match the cable: 1055-X galvanized or 1055-SX stainless. See the Technical Specifications on this page for the exact materials, dimensions, and ratings.
What is the difference between CRA and CRO kits?
The coupler sizing: CRA kits fit the 1-3/8 inch No. 1090 loop tops, and CRO kits fit the 2.0 inch No. 1093 loop tops used on Cal-OSHA pattern anchors. The rest of the rigging chain is the same. Following the manufacturer guidance on this page is part of keeping your equipment audit ready.
Can workers pass the intermediate anchors without unclipping?
Yes, the No. 5010-SM O-rings ride the cable through the pass-thru tops, so a worker connected to an O-ring travels the entire run hands-free. Make sure the connecting hardware and anchorage suit your application before you attach a lanyard or lifeline. If you have any doubt about the correct setup, consult a qualified person or the manufacturer instructions before putting the system into service.
What inspections does the rigging need?
Before each use check the absorber gauge, coupler and clamp condition, cable for broken wires or kinks, and bolt thread penetration past lock nuts. Any fall event removes the whole system from service until a qualified or competent person re-certifies it. Inspect it before every use, and retire it right away if you find corrosion, cracks, or bent components.
