Who Needs This Product

This product is a personal self-retracting device (SRL-P), the connecting component of a personal fall arrest system. A worker wears the compact SRD on the harness dorsal connection (or ties it off overhead) and the retractable web lifeline pays out and retracts with movement, locking to arrest a fall. This twin-leg version gives 100 percent tie-off for continuous connection while moving between anchor points. You still need a certified full-body harness and a rated anchorage.

Features

100 percent tie-off

Two retractable legs keep you connected while moving between anchors.

Compact personal SRD

Twin DuraTech Mini SRL-P mounts at the harness dorsal for hands-free protection.

Retractable web legs

Each leg pays out and retracts with movement and locks to arrest a fall quickly.

Class 1 rated

Certified to ANSI Z359.14-2021 for overhead or up to 5 ft below-D-ring tie-off without edges.

Choose your connectors

Steel SRD connector or carabiner at the dorsal, with steel or aluminum rebar or snap hooks at the anchors.

Aluminum options

Lightweight aluminum hook options reduce the twin-leg weight you carry all day.

Class 1 SRL-P, mind the tie-off position and edges. This device is certified Class 1. It may be anchored overhead or up to 5 ft below the dorsal D-ring where no edge hazard exists; below-D-ring or leading-edge use outside that range requires an edge-rated device. Confirm required fall clearance and swing-fall with the Fall Protection Calculator below.

Compliance Standards

American National Standard for self-retracting devices. Class 1 SRL-P.

ANSI A10.32-2012

How to Use

Follow the FallTech instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check the web lifeline, retraction, lock, housing, and connectors before each use.
  2. Mount the SRD. Connect the housing to your harness dorsal connector (SRL-P) or to a rated overhead anchor.
  3. Connect the lifeline. Attach the lifeline hook to a rated anchor (or to the harness if anchor-mounted).
  4. Check the lock. Give the lifeline a sharp pull to confirm it locks, and let it retract smoothly.
  5. Confirm clearance. Verify required fall clearance and swing-fall with the calculator below before working.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least annually. Remove the anchor from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Web lifeline: cuts, fraying, burns, or chemical damage.
  • Retraction and lock: lifeline that will not retract or lock up on a sharp pull.
  • Housing and hardware: cracks, deformation, or corrosion.
  • Connectors and hooks: bent gates, corrosion, or gates that will not lock.
  • Labels and RFID: illegible or missing markings.

Remove the anchor from service immediately after any fall-arrest event, and destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why use a twin-leg SRD?
Two legs give 100 percent tie-off. As you move between anchor points you connect the free leg before disconnecting the other, so you stay protected continuously.
What is a personal SRL (SRL-P)?
A compact self-retracting device worn on the harness (or tied off overhead) whose lifeline retracts and pays out with movement and locks to arrest a fall in a short distance.
What connector configurations are available?
Combinations of a steel SRD connector or steel carabiner/clip at the dorsal with steel snap, steel rebar, steel form rebar, steel mini rebar, or aluminum rebar hooks at the anchors. Choose in the options.
What does Class 1 mean?
Class 1 SRDs are for use where the anchorage is overhead or up to 5 ft below the dorsal D-ring and there is no sharp edge. For sharp edges or lower tie-off, use an edge-rated (Class 2 or leading-edge) device.
Can it be used after a fall?
No. Remove the SRD from service immediately after any fall-arrest event and destroy it so it cannot be reused.
How often should the SRL be inspected?
Inspect it before each use, and have a competent person inspect it at least annually, or more often as your program and the manual require. Keep inspection records and check the RFID or inspection label.
Can I anchor it below my dorsal D-ring?
Only up to 5 ft below the dorsal D-ring where there is no sharp edge, per the Class 1 rating. Tie-off lower than that, or over an edge, requires an edge-rated device.

Specifying SRLs for Your Crew?

The right SRD depends on the anchor position, the edge, the connectors, and the fall clearance below. Confirm your application with us and we will help you pick the leg count and connector configuration.
