FallTech 23-Inch Cable Anchor with Extra-Large Rebar Hook
The FallTech 8438C23X is a 23-inch cable anchorage connector made from 1/4-inch galvanized steel wire rope, fitted with a zinc-plated alloy-steel extra-large rebar hook on the anchor end and an O-ring on the device end. It extends reach to an anchor point and lets a large device connect where a standard hook will not fit.
The extra-large rebar hook wraps around large rebar, columns, and structural members, while the O-ring accepts a self-retracting device or lanyard. Rated for 5,000 lb (22.2 kN) and certified to ANSI Z359.18-2017.

Who Needs This Product
This product is a cable anchorage connector with an extra-large rebar hook, the anchorage component of a personal fall arrest system. Concrete, rebar, and structural crews hook it around large rebar or a member and attach their SRL or lanyard to the O-ring. It also helps a large device reach or connect to an anchor. You still need a certified full-body harness and a compatible connecting device to complete the system.
Features
Extra-large rebar hook
Zinc-plated alloy-steel hook wraps large rebar, columns, and members.
1/4-inch steel cable
Galvanized wire rope resists cuts and abrasion.
O-ring device end
Accepts a self-retracting device or lanyard connector.
Improves access
The 23-inch length extends reach to an anchor point.
Reusable and portable
Stows easily and installs without tools.
ANSI Z359.18-2017
Certified anchorage rated for 5,000 lb (22.2 kN).
Seat the rebar hook fully and confirm the structure. Make sure the extra-large rebar hook is fully seated and its gate is closed, and that the anchor member is rated for at least 5,000 lb. Do not connect the rebar hook to a harness dorsal D-ring. Confirm fall clearance and swing-fall with the Fall Protection Calculator below.
Compliance Standards
ANSI Z359.18-2017
American National Standard for anchorage connectors. 5,000 lb (22.2 kN).
OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502
Federal construction fall protection anchorage requirements.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910
General industry personal fall protection requirements.
5,000 lb rated
Minimum breaking strength of 5,000 lb (22.2 kN).
Typical Applications
How to Install
Follow the FallTech instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.
- Inspect. Check the webbing, stitching, and hardware for damage before each use.
- Choose a rated anchor point. Confirm the structure supports at least 5,000 lb and is free of sharp or abrasive edges.
- Wrap the structure. Pass the anchor around the beam, column, or member in the approved configuration.
- Connect. Attach your SRL or energy-absorbing lanyard to the anchor connection point.
- Check clearance. Confirm fall clearance and swing-fall with the calculator below.
Inspection and Retirement
Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least annually. Remove the anchor from service for any of the conditions below.
- Wire rope: kinks, birdcaging, broken wires, corrosion, or crushing.
- Swages and thimbles: cracks, slippage, or deformation.
- Hardware (carabiner, hook, D-ring, or O-ring): deformation, corrosion, or a gate that will not lock.
- Coating (if present) and labels: heavy damage, or illegible markings.
Remove the anchor from service immediately after any fall-arrest event, and destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.
