Who Needs This Product

Contractors, facility managers, and safety directors buy harness and lanyard combos when a new hire, subcontractor, or visitor needs compliant fall protection today. This set pairs the FallTech 7007 FT Basic harness with the 8256LTL energy absorbing lanyard. One SKU on the PO, one package on the shelf, one worker equipped.

Features

7007 FT Basic harness

1D (dorsal) full-body harness rated for fall arrest with a 5,000 lb minimum static strength dorsal D-ring.

Simple buckle adjustment

The harness provides workers with mating buckle legs and a mating buckle chest for a fast, secure fit.

8256LTL energy absorbing lanyard

A 6 ft single-leg FT Basic SoftPack energy absorbing lanyard that limits average arrest force to 900 lb.

Connector hardware

The lanyard includes a choke-loop for harness attachment and a plated alloy steel snap hook for the anchorage.

Matched components

Combination includes: 7007 harness and 8256LTL lanyard.

Ready to issue

Sized, matched, and boxed as one line item so crews are equipped without piecing parts together.

A kit equips a worker, an anchor completes the system. The harness and lanyard still need a rated anchor point, and a 6 ft energy absorbing lanyard needs roughly 18.5 ft of fall clearance below the anchor. Run the calculator below before the first tie-off.

Compliance Standards

ANSI Z359.11-2014

Full-body harness standard covering the 7007. See the harness Declaration of Conformity in the submittals section.

ANSI Z359.13-2013

Energy absorbing lanyard standard covering the 8256LTL on FallTech DoC #C0116032a.

OSHA 1926.502

Construction fall protection criteria for personal fall arrest systems, including anchorage, free fall, and clearance requirements.

OSHA 1910.140

General industry personal fall protection systems rule for walking-working surfaces.

Typical Applications

New hiresStandard-issue fall protection on day one.
SubcontractorsCompliant loaner gear for visiting trades.
Tool cribsStocked sets checked out per job.
General constructionEveryday fall arrest at 6 ft plus heights.
Fleet standardSame set in every truck across the fleet.

How to Use

Follow the FallTech instruction manuals. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Fit the harness. Don the harness, adjust the leg and chest buckles, and check the dorsal D-ring sits between the shoulder blades.
  2. Connect the lanyard. Attach the lanyard choke-loop to the dorsal D-ring web loop per the manual; the hook end connects to a rated anchor.
  3. Verify clearance. A 6 ft energy absorbing lanyard needs roughly 18.5 ft of clearance below the anchor; run the calculator on this page.
  4. Inspect before each use. Webbing, stitching, hardware, and the energy absorber pack.
  5. Keep the set together. Issue the harness and lanyard as one unit so inspection records stay matched.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect the harness and lanyard before each use, with a documented competent person inspection at least annually.

  • Webbing: cuts, burns, fraying, UV chalking, and chemical damage.
  • Stitching: broken or pulled threads at load-bearing seams.
  • Hardware: buckles, D-rings, and hooks free of cracks, corrosion, and gate defects.
  • Energy absorber: pack cover intact with no deployment evidence.
  • Labels: legible with serial and date recorded in the inspection log.

Retirement triggers: any fall arrest event, a deployed absorber, damaged webbing or hardware, or a failed inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is in the combo?
A FallTech 7007 FT Basic full-body harness and the 8256LTL, a 6 ft single-leg FT Basic SoftPack energy absorbing lanyard with a choke-loop for harness attachment and a plated alloy steel snap hook for the anchorage. Nothing else is required except a rated anchor point.
What sizes does the harness cover?
The 7007 is a UniFit harness that covers the majority of workers (roughly S through L body sizes) with adjustable leg, chest, and torso strapping. Weight capacity is 310 lb under ANSI and up to 425 lb under OSHA per the manual.
What standards do the components meet?
The harness is certified to ANSI Z359.11-2014 per the FallTech 7007 spec sheet, with CSA Z259.10-2018 coverage on DoC #BC1019002, and the 8256LTL energy absorbing lanyard is certified to ANSI Z359.13-2013 on FallTech DoC #C0116032a. Both meet OSHA 1926.502 requirements, and each document is linked in the submittals section.
How much fall clearance does a 6 ft lanyard need?
Roughly 18.5 ft from the anchor to the nearest obstruction: 6 ft of lanyard, up to 4 ft of deceleration, plus body length and a safety factor. If you do not have that clearance, use an SRL instead; the calculator on this page runs your numbers.
Can I anchor the lanyard at my feet?
No. A standard 6 ft energy absorbing lanyard is designed for anchorage at dorsal D-ring height or above. Foot-level tie-off requires a leading-edge rated device.
