Frontline MEGA Swivel Series

316 Stainless Replacement Bolt for the MEGA Swivel SS Anchor

The Frontline COM345K-SSRB is the 316 stainless steel replacement concrete bolt for the COM345K-SS MEGA Swivel 5K stainless anchor. Each MEGA Swivel anchor ships with one bolt installed, and the stainless anchor body itself is fully reusable. The bolt is the consumable: every time the anchor moves to a new anchoring point, the used bolt must be discarded and replaced with a new one.

Because the COM345K-SS is bought for corrosive environments, the replacement bolt matters twice over: it restores the tested load path and it preserves the all-stainless build. Substituting a plated bolt in a marine or chemical atmosphere would put the cheapest component on the fastest corrosion clock. Sold as a 2-pack — two stainless replacement bolts for $149, shipped together in one order.

Who Needs This Product

This product is a consumable replacement component, not a standalone anchor. It is for crews and safety managers who run the Frontline COM345K-SS stainless MEGA Swivel anchor in marine, wastewater, chemical, or coastal facilities and need fresh stainless bolts for each relocation. If you do not yet own the anchor, start with the COM345K-SS, which includes its first bolt.

Features

316 stainless steel

Matches the anchor body's marine grade alloy so the assembly resists chlorides and washdown chemistry as a whole.

Genuine Frontline component

The exact bolt the COM345K-SS is designed, tested, and documented around. No substitutions in the load path.

Enables true anchor reuse

The stainless anchor body relocates across the facility for years; a fresh bolt at each new point is the only consumable.

Fast swap

Remove the anchor, discard the used bolt, thread in the new one, and reinstall per the user manual.

Never reuse an installed bolt. A bolt that has been installed and removed must be discarded. Reusing a bolt, substituting non-Frontline hardware, or fitting a zinc plated bolt to the stainless anchor voids the basis of the anchor's ratings and undermines its corrosion resistance. The bolt itself is not an anchor: it only functions as part of the assembled COM345K-SS.

Compliance Standards

Component of a tested system

The replacement bolt carries no standalone standard claims. The compliance claims for the assembled anchor (ANSI, OSHA, and EN listings) appear on the COM345K-SS spec sheet, and they assume a new, genuine stainless bolt at every installation.

Typical Applications

Marine and coastal crewsStainless bolt stock keeps dock, pier, and seawall anchor relocations on schedule.
Water and wastewater plantsTreatment facilities keep stainless bolts on hand for recurring tie-off points around tanks and channels.
Chemical and food processingWashdown and hygienic environments that mandate stainless hardware throughout the fall protection system.

Bolt Replacement Overview

Follow the manufacturer's manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Remove. Take the COM345K-SS anchor out of its current installation per the user manual.
  2. Discard. Destroy or discard the used bolt so it cannot find its way back into service.
  3. Inspect. Check the stainless anchor body, swivel, and D-ring against the inspection criteria before redeploying.
  4. Replace. Fit the new COM345K-SSRB stainless bolt to the anchor exactly as the manual describes.
  5. Reinstall. Drill, clean, and torque at the new location per the manual, then verify before connecting.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every 6 months. Pull the equipment from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Damaged, stripped, or galled threads on the new bolt before installation
  • Any bolt that has previously been installed, even briefly
  • Pitting, crevice corrosion, or staining on the mating stainless anchor body
  • Missing or illegible markings on the anchor assembly
  • Any evidence the assembled anchor has arrested a fall

Used bolts are retired by definition after one installation. Discard them on removal, and remove the complete anchor from service if it has arrested a fall or fails inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the anchor need a new bolt at every location?
The bolt's grip in the concrete is established once, on first installation. Removing it works the threads and the engagement surfaces, so its holding strength can no longer be assumed. Frontline's instructions therefore require a brand new bolt at every new anchoring point while the anchor body itself keeps working.
Which anchor does the COM345K-SSRB fit?
It is the 316 stainless replacement bolt for the Frontline COM345K-SS MEGA Swivel 5K Stainless Steel Concrete Anchor. The zinc plated COM345K uses the COM345KRB bolt instead; match the bolt to your anchor model before ordering.
Can I put a standard zinc plated bolt in the stainless anchor?
No. Beyond breaking the tested configuration, a plated bolt corrodes far faster than the 316 body in the marine and chemical environments this anchor is bought for, and contact between dissimilar metals can accelerate the attack.
Can I reuse a bolt if it was only installed briefly?
No. Once a bolt has been installed and removed it is done, regardless of how short the installation was. The cost of a new bolt is trivial compared to the consequence of an anchor that does not hold.
Why is the stainless bolt more expensive than the standard one?
316 stainless bar stock and machining cost several times what zinc plated alloy steel does. The premium buys an assembly that stays inspectable and in service in chloride and chemical atmospheres that scrap plated hardware.
Does the bolt carry its own compliance ratings?
No. Standards claims such as ANSI, OSHA, and EN listings apply to the assembled COM345K-SS anchor, as documented on its spec sheet. The bolt is the consumable component those claims depend on, which is why only a new, genuine stainless bolt may be used.
Can the anchor this bolt services be used for fall arrest and fall restraint?
Yes. The assembled COM345K-SS supports both fall restraint, which prevents the worker from reaching the hazard, and fall arrest, which stops a fall in progress with energy-absorbing connecting devices. Confirm your available fall clearance with the fall clearance calculator on this page before relying on a fall arrest configuration.
