MPW Wire Rope Choker Anchor Sling – 2-Pack Kit
This Frontline MPW kit is a 2-pack of wire rope anchorage slings – two identical chokers for the places a web strap should not go: hot work, rough steel, and sharp-edged structure. The PVC coated galvanized wire rope wraps the member, the small O-ring passes through the forged large O-ring, and the choker cinches down to present a single, solid connection point.
Built from 5/16 in galvanized steel wire rope with a 5,000 lb minimum breaking strength and a 310 lb max user capacity. Each sling weighs just over a pound, and the kit ships as a 2-pack in your choice of 4 ft (MPW04-2PK) or 6 ft (MPW06-2PK) slings. Per the Frontline user manual the slings conform to ANSI Z359.18-2017 and align with OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502 and 1910.140.

Who Needs This Product
This product is a wrap-around wire rope anchorage connector for personal fall arrest or restraint systems. Ironworkers, welders, riggers, and maintenance crews choose wire rope over webbing where heat, slag, abrasion, or sharp edges would destroy a fabric strap. Each worker still needs a full body harness and a compatible connecting device attached to the large O-ring.
Features
Wire rope toughness
Galvanized 5/16 in aircraft-grade wire rope shrugs off abuse that retires web slings.
PVC coated
The coating protects both the rope and the structure finish, and makes hand-rigging easier.
Forged O-ring ends
A forged large O-ring and small O-ring form the choker - no hooks to side-load.
Choke-and-go rigging
Wrap the member, pass the small ring through the large one, connect. No tools.
Two working lengths
4 ft for tight columns and pipe; 6 ft for larger beams and trusses.
Light to carry
At roughly 1.1 lbs it lives in the gang box or on the harness all day.

The structure is the anchor. A choker sling is only as strong as the member it wraps - have a qualified person verify the beam, column, or pipe can support anchorage loads before anyone ties off. Keep the rope free of kinks, rig the choke snug, and use one worker per sling at 310 lbs maximum.
Compliance Standards
ANSI Z359.18-2017
American National Standard for anchorage connectors for active fall protection systems, per the conformity table in the Frontline user manual.
OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502
Federal construction fall protection criteria, including anchorage strength requirements.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.140
General industry personal fall protection system requirements.
Typical Applications
How to Rig the MPW Choker Sling
Follow the manufacturer's manual. The sequence below is an overview only.
- Select the member. Have a qualified person confirm the structure can support anchorage loads.
- Inspect the sling. Check the rope, coating, and both O-rings before each use.
- Wrap the member. Pass the sling around the structural member above the work.
- Choke it. Pass the small O-ring through the forged large O-ring and pull the choke snug.
- Connect. Attach your connecting device to the large O-ring only, then perform a pull test.
- Verify clearance. Confirm fall clearance below the work surface before work begins.
Inspection and Retirement
Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every 6 months. Pull the equipment from service for any of the conditions below.
- Wire rope: broken wires, kinks, birdcaging, crushing, or core protrusion.
- PVC coating: cuts, burns, or wear exposing bare rope.
- O-rings: deformation, cracks, corrosion, nicks, or gouges.
- Terminations: slipped or damaged swaged ends.
- Markings: labels must be present and legible.
Retire the sling immediately after any fall arrest event or if any inspection point fails. Destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.
