Frontline Lifeline Hardware

VLTP34 Rope Termination Plate, 2-Pack

The Frontline VLTP34 is the hardware that turns a length of rope into a terminated vertical lifeline: a lightweight aluminum end termination plate with six 5/8 in diameter holes, sized for 7/16 in to 3/4 in (11-19 mm) rope.

Thread the rope through the hole pattern to form a secure, adjustable termination at the anchor end - no splice required. The aluminum body weighs just 0.53 lbs and measures 10 in long, built to ANSI Z359.18-2017 and A10.32 and aligning with OSHA 1926 Subpart M and 1910.

Who Needs This Product

This product is lifeline termination hardware - it forms and tensions the end of a vertical lifeline rope at the anchor. Riggers and lifeline installers use it to terminate field-cut rope without a sewn or spliced eye. It is a component of a vertical fall protection system, not a complete system on its own.

Features

Terminate it per the manual. A rope termination plate only holds if the rope is threaded and dressed exactly as the Frontline manual specifies, on rope within the 7/16 in to 3/4 in range. A bad termination can slip under load - have a competent person verify it before the lifeline carries anyone.

Compliance Standards

ANSI Z359.18-2017

American National Standard for anchorage connectors - the plate is rated as lifeline termination hardware.

ANSI A10.32

Fall protection requirements for construction and demolition operations.

OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M

Federal construction fall protection requirements.

OSHA 29 CFR 1910

General industry requirements.

How to Use the VLTP34

Follow the manufacturer's manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check the plate for cracks, deformation, and hole wear before use.
  2. Select the rope. Confirm rope diameter is within 7/16 in to 3/4 in (11-19 mm).
  3. Thread the plate. Weave the rope through the six-hole pattern exactly as the manual specifies.
  4. Dress and set. Pull the termination tight and dress the tail per the manual.
  5. Verify. Have a competent person confirm the termination before loading the lifeline.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every 6 months. Pull the equipment from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Ladder webbing and rungs: cuts, fraying, abrasion, or broken rungs.
  • Carabiner: deformation, corrosion, gate and lock function.
  • Rope grab / belay (RLA18B): positive grab and release function.
  • Deployment bag: tears or failed roll-top closure that would slow deployment.
  • Markings and instructions: present, legible, and packed with the kit.

Retire the lifeline immediately after any fall arrest event or if any inspection point fails. Destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What rope does it fit?
Rope from 7/16 in to 3/4 in (11-19 mm) diameter, through six 5/8 in holes.
Do I need a splice?
No - the plate forms the termination by threading the rope through its hole pattern, no sewn or spliced eye required.
Is this a complete lifeline?
No - it is the termination hardware. You provide the rated rope and the anchor; pair with a rope grab and harness for the personal fall arrest connection.
What is it made of?
Lightweight aluminum, 0.53 lbs, 10 in long.
Which standards apply?
ANSI Z359.18-2017 and A10.32, aligning with OSHA 1926 Subpart M and 1910.
How do I know the termination is good?
Dress it exactly per the Frontline manual and have a competent person verify it before the lifeline carries any load.
What is the difference between fall arrest and fall restraint?
Fall arrest catches a worker after a fall happens; fall restraint prevents the worker from reaching the fall hazard in the first place. For a deeper walkthrough with system examples, read our guide: Fall Arrest vs. Fall Restraint. Use the Fall Protection Calculator below to size the right system for your job.
