RO01 Hinged Reusable Roof Anchor, 5-Pack

The Frontline RO01 is a hinged, reusable roof anchor: two high strength alloy steel flaps, each with 16 nail holes, fold over a wooden roof beam and lock down to present a D-ring tie-off point for one worker.

An ideal anchorage device for wooden beams used in roofing, it carries a 5,000 lb (22.2 kN) breaking strength with a 310 lb capacity at just 3 lbs, and measures 14.96 in long with a 2.14 in diameter D-ring. Built to ANSI Z359.1-2007 and Z359.18, aligning with OSHA 1910 and 1926.

Who Needs This Product

This product is a reusable single-point anchorage connector for personal fall arrest or restraint on wood-framed roofs. Roofers and framers fold it over a structural beam, nail through the holes, tie off to the D-ring, and remove it for the next job. Each worker still needs a full-body harness and a compatible connecting device.

Features

Installs on a wood ridge or beam

The two flaps fold over the structural member and nail down to a solid tie-off.

Comes back off the roof

Pull the nails and reuse it on the next beam instead of leaving it behind.

Small and light to carry

About three pounds, so it travels easily up the ladder.

One clear tie-off point

Presents a single D-ring for the worker's lanyard or lifeline.

Spreads load over many fasteners

Sixteen holes per flap let you nail off enough to develop full strength.

Built for repeated roofing work

Alloy-steel construction stands up to being installed and removed job after job.

How to Use the RO01

Follow the manufacturer's manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Verify the structure. Have a qualified person confirm the wooden beam can support anchorage loads.
  2. Inspect the anchor. Check both flaps, the hinge, and the D-ring before installation.
  3. Fold over the beam. Hinge the flaps over the two sides of the member.
  4. Fasten. Nail through the holes per the Frontline manual pattern.
  5. Connect. Attach your connecting device to the D-ring and perform a pull test.
  6. Verify clearance. Confirm fall clearance below the work surface before work begins.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every 6 months. Pull the equipment from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Visual: deformation, cracks, corrosion, or damaged welds on load-bearing parts.
  • Moving/locking parts: gates, jaws, pins, and locks operate and lock positively.
  • Connection points: D-rings, eyes, and hooks free of wear, elongation, or sharp edges.
  • Fasteners: present, correct, and fully engaged per the manual.
  • Markings: labels must be present and legible.

Retire the equipment immediately after any fall arrest event or if any inspection point fails. Destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Frontline RO01 hinged roof anchor?
The RO01 is a hinged, reusable roof anchor: two high-strength alloy steel flaps, each with 16 nail holes, fold over a wooden roof beam and lock down to present a D-ring tie-off point for one worker. It weighs about 3 lb, carries a 5,000 lb breaking strength and a 310 lb capacity, and is built to ANSI Z359.18.
How does the hinged design work and how do I install it?
Open the two hinged flaps over a structural wood beam or ridge, fasten through the 16 nail holes in each flap into the beam, and fold the anchor down so it locks and presents the D-ring. Follow the Frontline manual for the correct beam size, fastener type, and nailing pattern before tying off.
Is the RO01 really reusable?
Yes - unlike single-use anchors, the RO01 is removable and can be redeployed: pull the fasteners and reinstall it on the next beam. Inspect it before every reuse and retire it after any fall-arrest event or if any inspection point fails.
What roofs and beams is the RO01 for?
It is designed for wooden roof beams and trusses - new construction, framing, and reroofing. It is not intended for metal or concrete substrates; use a substrate-matched anchor for those.
What is its strength, capacity, and weight?
The RO01 has a 5,000 lb (22.2 kN) breaking strength and is rated for one worker up to 310 lb, at just 3 lb with a 2.14 in diameter D-ring. It is an anchorage connector and must be paired with a full-body harness and a rated connecting device.
How is the RO01 different from a single-use roof anchor?
The RO01 is hinged, removable, and reusable, so it comes off the beam and redeploys. Single-use anchors are fastened permanently or destroyed after use. Choose the RO01 when you want to recover and reuse the anchor across jobs.
Which standards does the RO01 meet?
It is built to ANSI Z359.1-2007 and ANSI Z359.18 and supports compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926. See the Submittals section for its documentation.
