Frontline Steel Anchors

Three Forged Steel Tie-Off Points, One Checkout

The STB01 is a forged steel threaded anchor that bolts into structural steel and gives one worker a 5,000 lb rated tie-off point. It installs in minutes with minimum effort and tools, loads in multiple directions, and unthreads just as fast — fully reusable, so it moves from one location to the next with the crew. Palm-sized at 1.33 lbs each, with a zinc plated finish for corrosion resistance.

Rated at a 5,000 lb minimum breaking strength with a 310 lb maximum user capacity, the STB01 meets ANSI Z359.18 and A10.32 and is built for OSHA 1926 construction and 1910 general industry work on steel columns, I-beams, and other steel structures. Sold as a 3-pack — three anchors ship together for $119.

Who Needs This Product

This product is an anchorage connector — the fixed tie-off point of a personal fall protection system. The structural steel it threads into is the anchorage; the worker wears a full body harness; a lanyard or self-retracting lifeline connects the two. The STB01 supplies the rated connection point, one worker per anchor — and this 3-pack puts a spare point ahead of the crew so nobody waits to tie off.

Features

Forged steel body

One-piece forged steel construction with a zinc plated finish, rated to a 5,000 lb minimum breaking strength.

Multi-direction loading

The anchor accepts loading and tie-off from multiple directions, so the connection point works as the task moves around it.

Minutes to install

Threads into most structural steel substrates with minimum effort and tools — no welding, no specialty crew.

Fully reusable

Unthread it and take it to the next location. Three anchors in this pack leapfrog down a beam line.

Palm-sized and light

1.33 lbs and compact enough to fit in the palm of your hand or ride in a tool pouch.

M14 threaded connection

M14 bolt thread engages a tapped hole in the steel member for a positive mechanical connection.

Structural steel only. The STB01 is rated for installation in structural steel substrates that can support 5,000 lbs per attached worker. A competent person must verify the steel member and the tapped connection before anyone ties off. One worker per anchor, 310 lbs maximum including tools.

Compliance Standards

ANSI Z359.18

Meets the American National Standard for anchorage connectors used in personal fall protection systems.

ANSI A10.32

Meets the ANSI standard for personal fall protection used in construction and demolition operations.

OSHA 1926

Suitable as an anchorage connector under OSHA construction fall protection rules when installed per the manual.

OSHA 1910

Suitable for general industry walking-working surface and fall protection applications.

Typical Applications

Steel columnsTie-off points on building columns during erection and fit-out.
I-beamsAnchorage on beam flanges and webs with tapped M14 holes.
Steel erectionLeapfrog the 3-pack ahead of the connecting crew.
Industrial maintenanceRecurring service points on plant steel.
Bridge and highway steelReusable points for inspection and painting crews.
Mezzanines and platformsEdge work on steel-framed platforms.
Fabrication shopsIn-shop work at height on weldments and assemblies.
Plant shutdownsFast, tool-light anchor points for turnaround crews.

Installation Overview

Follow the manufacturer's manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Verify the steel. A competent person confirms the structural steel member can support 5,000 lbs per attached worker.
  2. Prepare the hole. Drill and tap an M14 hole in the steel member at the location specified by the plan, per the user manual.
  3. Thread the anchor. Drive the STB01 into the tapped hole until the body seats fully against the steel.
  4. Confirm engagement. Verify full thread engagement and that the anchor cannot loosen under hand load.
  5. Connect. Attach the lanyard or SRL connector to the anchor eye; one worker per anchor.
  6. Relocate. When the task moves, unthread the anchor and reinstall it at the next prepared hole.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every 6 months. Pull the equipment from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Body and eye: deformation, cracks, nicks, or corrosion in the forged steel.
  • Threads: stripped, flattened, or damaged M14 threads that prevent full engagement.
  • Finish: zinc plating worn through with active rust on bearing surfaces.
  • Markings: product label and rating legible.
  • Seating: anchor torques fully against the substrate without play.

Retirement triggers: any fall arrest loading, deformation or thread damage, significant corrosion, illegible markings, or any condition where the inspector cannot verify the anchor is fit for service. Destroy retired anchors so they cannot return to use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the rated capacity of the STB01?
Each anchor has a 5,000 lb (22 kN) minimum breaking strength and a 310 lb maximum user capacity — one worker per anchor, including clothing and tools.
Which standards does this anchor meet?
The STB01 meets ANSI Z359.18 (anchorage connectors) and ANSI A10.32 (construction fall protection), and is suitable for use under OSHA 1926 and OSHA 1910 when installed per the user manual.
Do I get one anchor or three?
This listing is a bulk 3-pack: three STB01 threaded anchors ship together for $119 in a single checkout. It is the economical way to outfit a crew or stage anchor points ahead of the work.
Has the STB01 been lab tested?
Yes. The STB01 is third-party tested, and the test report is linked in the Submittals section of this page alongside the spec sheet and user manual.
What do I pair with these anchors for a complete system?
Each worker needs a full body harness and a connecting device — a shock-absorbing lanyard or self-retracting lifeline — sized so total arrest forces and clearance work for the task. The STB01 supplies the rated anchorage connector.
How often should the anchors be inspected, and when are they retired?
Inspect before each use and have a competent person document an inspection at least every 6 months. Retire any anchor that has arrested a fall, shows deformation, thread damage, or corrosion, or cannot be verified as safe.
What is the difference between fall arrest and fall restraint?
Fall arrest catches a worker after a fall begins; fall restraint keeps the worker from reaching the fall hazard at all. The STB01 can anchor either system — restraint is preferred when the work allows it because the fall never starts. For a deeper walkthrough with system examples, read our guide: Fall Arrest vs. Fall Restraint. Use the Fall Protection Calculator on this page to size the right system for your job.
