A7361 5K Swivel Anchor Weld-On Puck 2-Pack

The Malta Dynamics A7361 Weld-On Puck is a permanent mounting base that welds directly to structural steel to create a tie-off point for a 5K Swivel Anchor. It is built for custom fall protection installations on steel beams where drilling is not an option, giving fabricators and steel erectors a clean, welded anchorage location. This listing ships a 2-pack so a crew can set two mounting points from one order.

Each puck is made from uncoated mild steel ready for welding and includes a Class 8.8 M12 bolt and an internal tooth lock washer for a strong, secure connection to the swivel anchor. Rated to a 5,000 lb minimum breaking strength with a 130 to 310 lb worker capacity, it is compliant with OSHA 1926 Subpart M, OSHA 1910, and ANSI Z359.18-2017, and is compatible with the Malta A7360 and A7360C 5K Swivel Anchors.

Who Needs This Product

The A7361 is a permanent anchorage base, not a complete anchor on its own. It welds to a structural steel beam to create a bolt-on mounting point for a Malta 5K Swivel Anchor, which is what the worker actually clips to. It suits fabricators, steel erectors, and contractors building custom fall protection on structural steel where a drilled or clamped anchor is not practical. A qualified welder must make the weld, a Malta 5K Swivel Anchor is required to complete the anchorage, and each connected worker still needs an ANSI full body harness and a compatible connecting device.

Features

Welds to structural steel

Designed to be welded directly to steel beams for a permanent or semi-permanent anchorage location, ideal where drilling is not an option.

Bolt and washer included

Ships with a Class 8.8 M12 bolt and an internal tooth lock washer to secure the swivel anchor with maximum strength.

Swivel anchor compatible

Engineered to mount the Malta A7360 and A7360C 5K Swivel Anchors, which provide the rotating tie-off connection.

Uncoated mild steel

Built from uncoated mild steel so the puck welds cleanly to the host beam without grinding off a coating first.

Permanent or semi-permanent

Suitable for temporary or permanent installation, so one base can serve a single job or stay on the structure.

Code compliant

Rated to a 5,000 lb minimum breaking strength and compliant with OSHA and ANSI Z359.18-2017 anchorage requirements.

Weld quality and the host steel carry the load. The A7361 is only as strong as its weld and the structural steel it is welded to. The weld must be made by a qualified welder to a sound structural member, and a competent person must verify the structure can support a 5,000 lb anchorage load. The puck does not work on its own. You must install a Malta 5K Swivel Anchor with the included Class 8.8 M12 bolt and lock washer, then calculate fall clearance before tying off.

Compliance Standards

ANSI Z359.18-2017

Anchorage connectors standard. The A7361 anchorage system is designed and tested to the ANSI Z359.18 requirements.

OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M

Construction fall protection, including the anchorage strength requirements of 1926.502(d).

OSHA 29 CFR 1910

General industry fall protection and personal fall arrest anchorage requirements.

Declaration of Conformity

Conformity to the listed standards is documented in the Malta Dynamics Declaration of Conformity provided below.

Installation Overview

Install per the Malta Dynamics user instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check each puck, the included Class 8.8 M12 bolt, and the lock washer before installing.
  2. Verify structure. Confirm the structural steel member can support a 5,000 lb anchorage load, verified by a competent person.
  3. Weld. Have a qualified welder weld the puck to the prepared steel surface per the manual.
  4. Mount the swivel anchor. Install a Malta A7360 or A7360C 5K Swivel Anchor onto the puck using the included Class 8.8 M12 bolt and internal tooth lock washer.
  5. Connect. Clip a compatible connecting device and an ANSI full body harness to the swivel anchor. One worker per anchorage.
  6. Verify clearance. Calculate and confirm fall clearance below the work surface before work begins.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect the puck, weld, and hardware before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every six months. Remove the anchorage from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Puck: cracks, deformation, or significant corrosion of the uncoated mild steel.
  • Weld: cracking, porosity, undercut, or any sign of separation from the host steel.
  • Bolt and washer: stripped threads, deformation, or a lock washer that no longer holds; replace per the manual.
  • Host steel: cracks, deformation, or section loss in the member the puck is welded to.
  • Labels: must remain legible and intact.

Retirement triggers: any fall-arrest event, any cracked or failing weld, or any puck deformation. After a fall the puck, the weld, and the mounted swivel anchor must be inspected and retired as directed by the manual.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Malta Dynamics A7361 Weld-On Puck used for?
The A7361 is a weld-on anchorage base that welds directly to structural steel to create a permanent mounting point for a Malta 5K Swivel Anchor. It is built for custom fall protection installations on steel beams where drilling is not an option. This listing ships a 2-pack of pucks, each with the bolt and washer needed to mount a swivel anchor.
Does the A7361 work on its own, or do I need a swivel anchor?
The puck is a mounting base, not a complete anchor. To create a working tie-off point you weld the puck to structural steel, then bolt a Malta A7360 or A7360C 5K Swivel Anchor onto it using the included Class 8.8 M12 bolt and internal tooth lock washer. The worker clips to the swivel anchor, not directly to the puck.
What hardware is included with the A7361?
Each weld-on puck includes a Class 8.8 M12 bolt and an internal tooth lock washer, which fasten the 5K Swivel Anchor to the puck for a strong, secure connection. The puck itself is uncoated mild steel ready to be welded to the host beam.
What is the breaking strength and worker capacity of the A7361?
The A7361 anchorage has a 5,000 lb minimum breaking strength and a worker capacity range of 130 to 310 lb including tools. The weld must be made by a qualified welder, and the host structural steel must be verified to carry the anchorage load.
Which OSHA and ANSI standards does the A7361 meet?
Per the spec sheet and Declaration of Conformity, the A7361 is compliant with OSHA 1926 Subpart M, OSHA 1910, and ANSI Z359.18-2017 for anchorage connectors.
Has the A7361 been independently verified?
Yes. Malta Dynamics issues a Declaration of Conformity stating the A7361 conforms to ANSI Z359.18-2017 and the listed OSHA standards. The Declaration of Conformity PDF is linked in the Submittals section below for your submittal package.
What else do I need to build a complete fall protection system?
Beyond the welded puck, you need a Malta 5K Swivel Anchor to mount on it, plus a full body harness and a compatible connecting device such as a self-retracting lifeline or a shock-absorbing lanyard for each worker. Size the connector free fall and deceleration distance to the available fall clearance, and use the Fall Protection Calculator below to plan the system.
