SSRA 100' Temporary Horizontal Lifeline Kit – Portable Standing Seam Safety
The SSRA 100' Temporary Horizontal Lifeline (HLL) Kit provides a mobile, non-penetrating fall protection solution for contractors working on standing seam metal roofs. This high-capacity system is designed for fast deployment and removal, allowing two workers to move freely across a 100-foot span without piercing the roof panels. By combining the patented SSRA1 anchors with SSRA3 Anchor Plates and the high-performance Malta Dynamics HLL3001 lifeline, this kit provides a 100% tie-off solution that protects both your crew and the roof's warranty.

▶ SSRA1 Compatibility Overview
This Panel Compatibility Chart is provided only as a reference for what the SSRA1 will physically mount to. It does not determine the structural integrity of any roof system or seam. It is the Qualified Person's responsibility to verify structural suitability in the event of a fall. The SSRA1 fits over 95% of standing seam panels. It is approved only for 22- and 24-gauge steel and is not compatible with aluminum, zinc, copper, or other soft metals. Do not install on curved, tapered, or batten-seam profiles.
▶ Nailstrip Panel Warning
Nailstrip-style panels are approximately 50% compatible. Some seams are too wide at the base, which can allow anchor movement during installation. Treat compatibility lists as guidelines, not guarantees.
▶ Installer Responsibility
The employer and the designated Competent Person are solely responsible for evaluating, determining, and documenting the structural suitability of the supporting structure. The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for structural assessment or performance under load.
▶ Test Fit Recommendation
Perform a test fit with an RCT seam clamp well before installation.
▶ Set-Screw Options
- Cupped-tip: 22-gauge steel—torque to 90 in-lbs
- Nylon-tip: 22/24-ga steel—torque to 180–200 in-lbs
▶ Surface Impact
Minor seam dimpling and paint abrasion may occur. Scratches can be touched up with a matching paint pen.
High-Capacity 4-Anchor Horizontal Lifeline Mounting System
Stability is the foundation of this kit, utilizing a 4-anchor mounting configuration for maximum safety. Each end of the lifeline is supported by an SSRA3 Anchor Plate, which bridges across two SSRA1 seam anchors. This layout distributes the force of a fall across four separate seams, ensuring the system meets rigorous OSHA 5,000 lb requirements without the need for roof penetrations. The system fits over 500 standing seam profiles, making it the most versatile portable HLL on the market for 2026 industrial projects.
Malta Dynamics HLL3001 Integration
The kit features the 100-foot Malta Dynamics HLL3001, a premier synthetic rope horizontal lifeline known for its durability and ease of tensioning. The lifeline includes an integrated shock absorber and a high-strength tensioner, allowing for quick setup by a single worker. When paired with the SSRA hardware, this system allows two concurrent users to work safely in fall-arrest or fall-restraint applications. Its lightweight, portable nature makes it ideal for short-term service work, solar installation, and emergency roof repairs.

SSRA 100' Temporary HLL FAQ
1. How long does it take to install this temporary system?
An experienced two-man crew can typically install the anchors, plates, and lifeline in approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Removal is even faster, making it ideal for service calls that require quick setup.
2. Can I use this on a roof with a 12/12 pitch?
Yes. The SSRA1 and SSRA3 hardware are rated for use on steep-slope roofs. However, always ensure your fall clearance calculations account for the increased fall distance associated with steep pitches.
3. Do I need to use the 4-anchor setup every time?
Yes. To achieve the required 5,000-lb tie-off rating for two people on a horizontal lifeline, the forces must be distributed across two seams at each end. Bypassing the SSRA3 plates and using only one anchor per end would violate the engineered safety rating.
4. Is the SSRA1 base anchor available individually?
Yes. If you need to replace a component or expand your inventory, you can purchase the SSRA1 Standing Seam Roof Anchor separately. It is the core foundation of this HLL kit.
5. What tools are required for a compliant installation?
The most critical tool is a calibrated torque wrench. We recommend the 1/4" Drive Micro Torque Wrench to ensure all 48 set screws are tightened to the exact inch-pound specifications required for safety.
6. Does this system work on SnapLok or Bulb Seams?
Yes. The universal-fit design of the SSRA1 anchors included in this kit allows it to mount to over 500 seam profiles, including SnapLok, Bulb Seams, T-Seams, and Double-Lok panels without modification.
7. How do I avoid common mistakes with Temporary HLL setups?
- 1. Seam Compression: Always use the provided torque wrench. Under-tightening can lead to slippage; over-tightening can damage the panel.
- 2. Substrate Check: Ensure you are mounting to 22 or 24-gauge steel. Soft metals like copper or aluminum are not rated for these horizontal loads.
- 3. Inspection: Inspect the Malta Dynamics rope for any signs of abrasion, heat damage, or chemical exposure before every deployment.
