The SRL holds the line tight to the dorsal D-ring at all times, limiting free fall to 24" and arrest distance to 54", while the Pro-Deluxe Tri-Lam3 padded harness keeps crews comfortable through full shifts.

What is included: 30 ft SideWinder Self Retracting Lifeline No. 2903-K, Pro-Deluxe Hi-Viz Harness No. PD-6101-GHM (Medium) or No. PD-6101-GHL (Large), No. 6184 Energy Absorber, No. 5006-Z Aluminum Twist Lock Carabiner, and No. 3013-D Hinge-2 Anchor with 36ct duplex nails, all packed in a storage bucket.

Who Needs This Product

Roofing and exterior contractors working longer roof planes, hips, and commercial-residential hybrids where a 20 ft SRL runs out of cable before the worker runs out of roof. The 30 ft SideWinder covers eave-to-eave travel on larger homes from a single ridge anchor, and the Medium or Large Pro-Deluxe harness option matches the kit to each worker. Everything stores together in one bucket per crew member.

Features

30 ft SideWinder Self Retracting Lifeline

The No. 2903-K SideWinder is an ANSI Z359.14-2014 Class B SRL with 3/16" galvanized cable (3,400 lb minimum tensile), a stainless steel braking system, and a swivel snaphook with a built-in fall indicator. The 30 ft length weighs 16 lb per the SideWinder manual.

Pro-Deluxe Tri-Lam3 Padded Harness

The PD-6101-GH harness pairs Hi-Viz webbing with a gray Tri-Lam3 padded frame that resists moisture absorption. Choose Medium or Large at checkout.

No. 6184 Energy Absorber

ANSI Z359.13 tear-webbing energy absorber with the No. 5006-Z aluminum twist lock carabiner on the A-end and a D-ring on the B-end, rated for users from 130 lb to 310 lb.

Aluminum Twist Lock Carabiner

The included No. 5006-Z carabiner carries a 3,600 lb gate strength and meets ANSI Z359 connector requirements.

Hinge-2 Reusable Roof Anchor

The No. 3013-D anchor is 11ga steel with a forged, Dacromet-coated D-ring. It hinges over the ridge or mounts on the field of the roof and installs with the included 36ct duplex nails.

Longer Reach, Same Footprint

Thirty feet of working cable means fewer anchor moves on wide roof planes, saving installation time on every slope.

The SideWinder SRL is not approved for leading edge fall hazards and free falls over metal or concrete edges. Anchor the SRL at or above the dorsal D-ring where practical and keep free fall to 24" or less over wood edges. The Hinge-2 anchor is temporary and must be removed after use, and the supporting framing must be capable of resisting 5,000 lb or 2x the intended load. Remove the entire system from service after any fall.

Compliance Standards

OSHA 1926.502

Personal fall arrest system criteria for construction, including anchorage strength, maximum arresting force, and prompt rescue provisions.

ANSI Z359.14-2014

The SideWinder 2903-K is a Class B self retracting device with certified arrest distance and force performance.

ANSI Z359.13

The No. 6184 energy absorber meets the personal energy absorber standard for users from 130 lb to 310 lb.

ANSI Z359.12

The No. 5006-Z twist lock carabiner meets connector gate strength requirements at 3,600 lb.

Typical Applications

Large steep-slope roofs. Thirty feet of cable covers wide planes from a single ridge anchor.
Metal roof service work. Short arrest distances protect workers near eaves and rakes.
Solar installation. Hands-free line management on long panel rows.
New construction sheathing and dry-in. Fast tie-off for framing crews on big footprints.
Hip and valley work. Extra cable length reaches around complex geometry with fewer anchor moves.
Chimney, skylight, and vent flashing. Work directly below the anchor with minimal slack.
Gutter and fascia replacement. Eave-edge work with a 24" free fall limit instead of 6 ft.
Punch-out and repair calls. One bucket carries a complete one-worker system.

Installation Overview

Typical installation for a pitched wood-framed roof. Read the SideWinder and Hinge-2 manuals before use.

  1. Install the No. 3013-D Hinge-2 anchor over a rafter or truss, 6 nails per leg through the center-row holes, at least 6 ft from gable edges.
  2. Connect the No. 5006-Z twist lock carabiner and SRL A-end to the anchor D-ring.
  3. Don the PD-6101 Pro-Deluxe harness and adjust the 5 points for a snug fit.
  4. Attach the SideWinder cable snaphook to the dorsal D-ring, using the No. 6184 energy absorber when the application requires it.
  5. Perform a function test: pull the cable sharply and confirm the brake engages, and check the fall indicator on the swivel snaphook.
  6. Work within a 30 degree cone below the anchor to limit swing fall.
  7. Remove the anchor and re-pack the kit when work is complete.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before installation and each use, with documented annual inspections. Remove the anchor from service when any of the following apply:

  • SRL cable shows broken wires, kinks, birdcaging, or corrosion
  • SRL brake fails a function test or the cable does not retract fully
  • The swivel snaphook fall indicator shows the unit has arrested a fall
  • Carabiner gate does not close and lock automatically
  • Energy absorber tear webbing shows any deployment
  • Anchor legs are bent, welds are cracked, or the D-ring is deformed
  • Harness webbing is cut, abraded, or stitching is broken
  • Any warning or PID label is missing or not legible

Tag anchors removed from service to prevent further use until inspected by a qualified or competent person.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the Super Anchor 3205 MAX-S kit?
The kit includes the 30 ft No. 2903-K SideWinder self retracting lifeline, a Pro-Deluxe Hi-Viz harness (No. PD-6101-GHM Medium or No. PD-6101-GHL Large, selected at checkout), the No. 6184 energy absorber, the No. 5006-Z aluminum twist lock carabiner, and the No. 3013-D Hinge-2 anchor with 36ct duplex nails, packed in a storage bucket.
How is the 3205 different from the 3204 kit?
The only difference is reach: the 3205 carries a 30 ft SideWinder (No. 2903-K, 16 lb) while the 3204 carries a 20 ft unit. Choose the 3205 when eave-to-work-area distances exceed 20 ft, such as larger homes and light-commercial roofs.
Which harness size should I order?
The PD-6101-GHM fits medium builds and the PD-6101-GHL fits large builds. Both use 5-point adjustment, a gray Tri-Lam3 padded frame, and Hi-Viz webbing, and both are rated for users up to 310 lb including tools.
Can the SideWinder be used at foot level?
The SideWinder is rated for a maximum 24" free fall over wood edges, which permits anchorage below the dorsal D-ring on wood-framed roofs within that limit. It is not approved for leading edge use or free falls over metal or concrete edges.
How do I anchor the SRL to the roof?
Install the included No. 3013-D Hinge-2 anchor over a rafter or truss with 6 duplex nails per leg, then connect the SRL with the No. 5006-Z twist lock carabiner. The framing must be capable of supporting 5,000 lb or 2x the intended load.
What rescue provisions does OSHA require with this kit?
OSHA 1926.502 requires the employer to provide for prompt rescue after a fall. Crews should plan access to a suspended worker, which includes a ladder or aerial lift staged on site, allowing rescue before suspension trauma develops.
When does the SideWinder need factory service?
Any SRL that has arrested a fall, fails its pre-use function test, or fails inspection must be removed from service and returned to Super Anchor for factory service. Do not open the casing; the internal recoil spring can cause serious injury.
