Frequently Asked Questions

What is in the 5001-Z-4PK pack?
Four steel twist lock carabiners per order: each is a steel twist lock carabiner with a 3,600 lb rated gate. Confirm each component in the system is compatible and rated for the intended use before connecting to it. Only trained workers should select, install, and use fall protection equipment for its intended application.
What is the gate strength of the 5001-Z?
The 5001-Z has a self-closing, self-locking twist lock gate rated to 3,600 lb. Always inspect the product before each use and take it out of service if you notice any damage, deformation, or excessive wear. Keep the manufacturer instructions with the equipment so anyone using it can reference the approved procedures.
When should I choose steel over aluminum?
Steel suits crews that want maximum durability in a high-wear connector and do not mind the extra weight over aluminum. The 5001-Z carries the same 3,600 lb gate rating as the aluminum models. A qualified person should verify that the installation and the overall system meet the requirements of your specific job site.
Why is the 5001-Z sold as a 4-pack?
Job-lot pack quantities keep the per-unit cost down for crews that reorder connectors regularly, and every unit in the pack is identical. Pair it only with connectors and equipment that are approved for use together so the complete system performs as designed. Confirm each component in the system is compatible and rated for the intended use before connecting to it.
What standard does the 5001-Z meet?
The 5001-Z is rated to ANSI Z359 for connectors and supports OSHA 1926.502 compliant systems. Store it in a clean, dry place away from heat and chemicals to help preserve its condition between uses. Before every use, confirm the product is compatible with the rest of your fall protection system and that you have adequate fall clearance below the work area.
Can I connect the 5001-Z to another carabiner?
No. Never connect two carabiners or snaphooks to each other because gate-on-gate loading can cause rollout. Confirm each component in the system is compatible and rated for the intended use before connecting to it. A qualified person should verify that the installation and the overall system meet the requirements of your specific job site.
What completes a fall protection system with the 5001-Z?
Yes. These are connectors within a complete personal fall arrest system, which also needs a full body harness, a connecting device, and a rated anchor. Only trained workers should select, install, and use fall protection equipment for its intended application. Store it in a clean, dry place away from heat and chemicals to help preserve its condition between uses.
