Frequently Asked Questions

What does the 5006-Z-3PK include?
Three aluminum twist lock carabiners per order: each is a lightweight aluminum twist lock carabiner with a 3,600 lb rated gate. Keep the manufacturer instructions with the equipment so anyone using it can reference the approved procedures. A qualified person should verify that the installation and the overall system meet the requirements of your specific job site.
How strong is the 5006-Z gate?
The gate is self-closing and self-locking, rated to 3,600 lb, the same rating as the steel model. Pair it only with connectors and equipment that are approved for use together so the complete system performs as designed. Store it in a clean, dry place away from heat and chemicals to help preserve its condition between uses.
Why choose aluminum over steel?
Aluminum saves weight on your harness without giving up the 3,600 lb gate rating, which matters when a connector rides on your gear all day. The 5006-Z is the aluminum counterpart to the steel 5001-Z. Before every use, confirm the product is compatible with the rest of your fall protection system and that you have adequate fall clearance below the work area.
Why is the 5006-Z sold as a 3-pack?
Bulk packs suit shops and crews that stock replacement connectors; ordering three at a time means fewer reorders through the season. Confirm each component in the system is compatible and rated for the intended use before connecting to it. Only trained workers should select, install, and use fall protection equipment for its intended application.
Is the 5006-Z ANSI rated?
The 5006-Z is rated to ANSI Z359 for connectors and supports OSHA 1926.502 compliant systems. Only trained workers should select, install, and use fall protection equipment for its intended application. Always inspect the product before each use and take it out of service if you notice any damage, deformation, or excessive wear.
Can two 5006-Z carabiners be clipped together?
No. Connecting two carabiners or snaphooks to each other risks gate rollout and is never permitted. Keep the manufacturer instructions with the equipment so anyone using it can reference the approved procedures. Before every use, confirm the product is compatible with the rest of your fall protection system and that you have adequate fall clearance below the work area.
What completes a fall protection system with the 5006-Z?
A full body harness, a connecting device, and a rated anchorage complete the system; these connectors join those components. A qualified person should verify that the installation and the overall system meet the requirements of your specific job site. Only trained workers should select, install, and use fall protection equipment for its intended application.
