Super Anchor Heat Resistant Harness + Energy Absorber, 6174-EA

The Super Anchor 6174-EA is a heat resistant full body harness with a factory-installed 6192 Ultra-Lite energy absorber and 6179-HR2 heat resistant absorber cover, built for welding, hot work, and high-heat environments where standard polyester webbing would be damaged. It combines heat resistant webbing with a dorsal fall-arrest D-ring for a compliant tie-off near heat and sparks.

The 6174 is offered in Small through X-Large and is certified to ANSI Z359.11. This model has the built-in energy absorber; the standard 6174 without the absorber is also available.

How to Use Heat Resistant Harness

Follow the Super Anchor Safety instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check all webbing, stitching, hardware, and fall indicators before each use.
  2. Don the harness. Step in, pull it up, and connect the chest and leg buckles.
  3. Adjust the fit. Snug all straps so the dorsal D-ring sits between the shoulder blades.
  4. Connect. Attach your energy-absorbing lanyard or self-retracting lifeline to the dorsal D-ring.
  5. Verify clearance. Confirm anchorage, connectors, and fall clearance before working at height.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least annually. Remove the product from service for any condition below.

  • Webbing: cuts, frays, abrasion, burns, chemical damage, or heat glazing.
  • Stitching: pulled, cut, or broken threads.
  • Hardware: D-rings, buckles, and keepers for distortion, cracks, corrosion, or sharp edges.
  • Fall indicators: any sign of deployment or activation.
  • Labels: illegible or missing markings.

Retire the anchor immediately after any fall-arrest event, or if any inspection point fails.
