FallTech 7540A14 BeamLock Beam Anchor, Dual Adjustment

The FallTech 7540A14 BeamLock is a reusable beam anchor that clamps to a structural I-beam or H-beam flange to create a rated tie-off point without drilling or welding. It works as a trailing anchor on a top flange or an overhead anchor on a bottom flange.

Dual adjustment fits flanges from 4 in to 14 in wide and up to 1-1/4 in thick. The BeamLock ships with two sets of wear pads, long and short, so it travels smoothly along the beam in a trailing application. Certified to ANSI Z359.18-2017 as a Type A anchorage rated for 5,000 lb (22.2 kN).

Who Needs This Product

This product is the BeamLock beam anchor, the anchorage component of a personal fall arrest system. Steel erectors and maintenance crews clamp it to an I-beam flange to create a rated tie-off point, then connect an SRL or energy-absorbing lanyard. In a trailing setup the wear pads let it slide smoothly along the beam. You still need a certified full-body harness and a compatible connecting device to complete the system.

Features

BeamLock jaw design

Locks onto the anchor-bar teeth for a positive, secure grip on the flange.

Dual adjustment

Fits flanges from 4 in to 14 in wide with a two-side adjustment.

Two wear-pad sets

Ships with long and short wear pads for smooth trailing travel.

Trailing or overhead

Mount on a top flange to trail or a bottom flange overhead.

No drilling or welding

Clamps to the beam flange for a reusable, damage-free anchor.

ANSI Z359.18-2017 Type A

Certified 5,000 lb (22.2 kN) single-worker anchorage.

Confirm the jaws lock and check the gap. Make sure the jaws have locked properly onto the teeth on the anchor bar. The gap between the beam flange and the jaw must not exceed 11/16 in; if it does, adjust the anchor further. Where a beam path has joints, the joint gap must not exceed 1/2 in. Confirm fall clearance and swing-fall with the Fall Protection Calculator below.

Compliance Standards

ANSI Z359.18-2017 Type A

American National Standard for anchorage connectors, Type A. 5,000 lb (22.2 kN) strength.

OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502

Federal construction fall protection anchorage requirements.

OSHA 29 CFR 1910

General industry personal fall protection requirements.

5,000 lb rated

Anchorage strength of 5,000 lb (22.2 kN) per attached worker.

How to Install the 7540A14

Follow the FallTech instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check the anchor bar, jaws, wear pads, threads, and D-ring before each use.
  2. Choose wear pads. Fit the long or short wear pads for your beam and application.
  3. Position. Place the anchor over the beam flange in a trailing or overhead orientation.
  4. Lock and verify. Adjust until the jaws lock on the anchor-bar teeth and the flange-to-jaw gap is no more than 11/16 in.
  5. Connect and check clearance. Attach your SRL or lanyard to the D-ring, then confirm fall clearance and swing-fall with the calculator below.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least annually. Remove the anchor from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Anchor bar and jaws: cracks, bending, worn teeth, or corrosion.
  • Wear pads: excessive wear, tearing, or missing pads.
  • Threads and adjustment: damaged threads or an adjustment that will not hold.
  • D-ring: deformation, sharp edges, corrosion, or a swivel that binds.

Remove the anchor from service immediately after any fall-arrest event, and destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the BeamLock jaw design?
The BeamLock jaws lock onto the teeth on the anchor bar, giving a positive, secure grip rather than relying on friction alone.
What wear pads come with it?
The 7540A14 ships with two sets of wear pads, long and short. The longer pads improve how smoothly the anchor travels along the beam in a trailing application.
What beams does it fit?
It fits I-beam and H-beam flanges from 4 in to 14 in wide and up to 1-1/4 in thick, with dual adjustment.
What is the rated strength and capacity?
Certified to ANSI Z359.18-2017 as a Type A anchorage with 5,000 lb (22.2 kN) strength, for one worker up to 310 lb for ANSI and 425 lb for OSHA.
How do I know it is installed correctly?
The jaws must lock onto the anchor-bar teeth and the flange-to-jaw gap must be no more than 11/16 in.
Can I buy replacement wear pads?
Yes. FallTech 7542A short wear pads and 7542B long wear pads are available as replacements, each a 2-pack with screws.
Can it be reused after a fall?
No. Remove the anchor from service immediately after any fall-arrest event and destroy it so it cannot be reused.
