FallTech 8125 Single-Anchor Vertical Lifeline, 25 ft (ANSI or CSA)

The FallTech 8125 is a 25 ft single-anchor vertical lifeline built from low-stretch 5/8 in three-strand polyester rope with an integral steel thimble and snap hook on the anchoring end. Combined with a compatible rope grab, it forms a complete vertical fall-arrest connecting subsystem for climbing and descending workers.

The trailing end is back-spliced and finished with a splice-protecting heat-shrink sleeve to guard against abrasion. Choose your certification at checkout: ANSI Z359.15 for US jobsites or CSA Z259.2.5-2017 for Canada. Use with a compatible FallTech rope grab, a certified full-body harness, and a rated overhead anchorage.

Who Needs This Product

This product is a single-anchor vertical lifeline (VLL), the rope component of a vertical fall-arrest system. Workers climbing or descending attach a rope grab to the lifeline and connect it to their harness so a fall is arrested along the rope. Roofers, tower and ladder workers, and maintenance crews use the 25 ft length to match the work height. You still need a compatible rope grab, a certified full-body harness, and a rated anchorage.

Features

Low-stretch 5/8 in rope

Premium 3-strand twisted polyester rope limits stretch and resists abrasion and UV.

Steel thimble and snap hook

The anchoring end has an integral steel thimble and snap hook for a rated overhead anchor.

Back-spliced trailing end

A protected back-splice suits replacement with hinged rope grabs and keeps the tail clean.

Rope-grab compatible

Pairs with a compatible FallTech fall arrester (rope grab) to complete the system.

25 ft working length

Sized to match common climb and work heights.

ANSI and CSA certified

Select ANSI Z359.15 or CSA Z259.2.5-2017.

Use with a compatible rope grab and confirm clearance. A vertical lifeline is one part of a fall-arrest system; it must be used with a compatible rope grab, a certified harness, and a rated overhead anchor. Keep the lifeline as taut as practical, and run the Fall Protection Calculator below to confirm clearance before you climb.

How to Use the Vertical Lifeline

Follow the FallTech instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check the rope for cuts, fraying, and UV or chemical damage, and check the thimble, snap hook, and back-splice before each use.
  2. Anchor overhead. Connect the snap-hook end to a rated overhead anchor above the climb or work path.
  3. Install the rope grab. Attach a compatible fall arrester (rope grab) to the lifeline in the correct orientation.
  4. Connect to the harness. Connect the rope grab to the dorsal D-ring of a certified full-body harness.
  5. Verify. Keep the lifeline as taut as practical, confirm fall clearance below, and run the calculator below.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every 6 months. Pull the lifeline from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Rope: cuts, fraying, pulled or broken fibers, glazing, or chemical damage.
  • UV and abrasion: excessive fading, stiffness, or surface wear.
  • Thimble and splice: distortion, slippage, or damaged heat-shrink sleeve.
  • Snap hook: deformation, corrosion, or a gate that fails to close and lock.

Retire the lifeline immediately after any fall-arrest event, or if any inspection point fails. Destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this include a rope grab?
No. The vertical lifeline is the rope component. Add a compatible FallTech rope grab (fall arrester), such as the 8388, plus a harness, to complete the system.
Do I need other components to use this?
This is one part of a personal fall-arrest system. You also need a certified full-body harness and the compatible connecting components and a rated anchorage.
What is the rated capacity?
Rated for a single user up to the capacity on the product label, including tools and clothing.
What is the difference between fall arrest and fall restraint?
Fall arrest catches a worker after a fall happens; fall restraint prevents reaching the hazard first. Use the Fall Protection Calculator below to size the right system.
How do I choose the right lifeline length?
Pick a length that reaches from the overhead anchor to the lowest work or climb position with rope to spare. We stock 25, 50, and 100 ft.
How often should the lifeline be inspected?
Inspect the rope, thimble, snap hook, and splice before every use, plus a documented competent-person inspection at least every 6 months.
Can it be used after a fall?
No. Remove the lifeline from service after any fall-arrest event and destroy it so it cannot be reused.
