Facilities that need adjustable-reach access over portals, edges, and offset openings use a davit system where a tripod cannot fit or cannot reach. Davit arms pair with portable or fixed bases, which lets one arm serve many locations across a plant, and the offset reach places the anchor point directly over the work.

Pins and reach settings matter. Every davit connection must be fully pinned at an approved reach setting before an entrant connects. Follow the FallTech manual for base anchoring and allowable configurations.

Typical Applications
How to Use
Follow the FallTech instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.
- Set the base. Install the davit base or position the portable base at the entry point.
- Assemble the davit. Insert the mast and davit arm, and pin all components at the required reach setting.
- Mount your device. Attach the SRL-R or winch to the device bracket and route the line over the arm sheave.
- Verify the system. Confirm all pins are seated and the system is stable before connecting an entrant.
- Operate per the manuals. Run the devices per their instructions for entry, work, and retrieval.
Inspection and Retirement
Inspect the davit components before each use. A competent person must inspect the system at least annually.
- Arm and mast: bends, cracks, corrosion, and weld condition.
- Pins: full engagement at every connection point.
- Sheaves: turn freely with no cable wear grooves.
- Base: anchor or ballast integrity per the installation instructions.
Retirement triggers: any fall arrest load on the system, structural damage, or missing hardware.
