Who Needs This Product
Crews that run SteelGrip cable lifelines keep genuine installation components on hand so a worn clip, thimble, or absorber never idles a span. Every component is rated for the 3/8 in SteelGrip system, and using factory parts keeps the assembled lifeline inside its OSHA compliance basis.

⚠
Genuine components keep the system compliant. The SteelGrip compliance basis assumes factory hardware on 3/8 in cable at the manual's clip counts and torques. Substituting hardware store parts voids that basis. Replace the coil energy absorber after any deployment.
Compliance Standards
OSHA 1926.502(d)(8)
Horizontal lifelines must be designed, installed, and used under the supervision of a qualified person, as part of a complete personal fall arrest system.

How to Use
Follow the FallTech instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.
- Match the component. Confirm the part fits the 3/8 in SteelGrip system and your span configuration.
- Install per the manual. Follow the SteelGrip instruction manual for clip torque, thimble placement, and absorber orientation.
- Verify tension. Re-tension the system and confirm the indicator reads correctly before workers connect.
- Log the change. Record the component swap in the system inspection record.
Inspection and Retirement
Inspect components on the same schedule as the lifeline, before each use and at least once a year by a competent person, per the FallTech manual.
- Threads and pawls: clean, lubricated, and fully functional.
- Load-bearing surfaces: no wear grooves, cracks, or corrosion.
- Energy absorber coils: tight and undeployed.
Replace any component that fails inspection and re-verify the full span before returning it to service.

Frequently Asked Questions
What system does the 62201EA fit?
It is engineered for the FallTech SteelGrip temporary cable HLL system running 3/8 in galvanized cable. Using factory components keeps the assembled lifeline inside its OSHA compliance basis.
Can I build a lifeline from my own cable?
Yes. The SteelGrip installation components are designed for user-supplied 3/8 in galvanized cable. Terminate one end, clamp the field end, install the energy absorber, and tension to the indicator per the manual.
What does the coil energy absorber do?
The 304 stainless steel coil stretches progressively during a fall arrest, limiting the load transmitted to your end anchors. It must be replaced after any deployment.
What is the difference between SteelGrip and SteelGrip Plus?
SteelGrip tensions with a 5/8 in turnbuckle. SteelGrip Plus swaps in a ratchet strap tensioner that reaches working tension faster, and the 62206R retrofits existing SteelGrip systems to Plus.
How often does the hardware need inspection?
Inspect before each use and re-check tension every shift while the span stays rigged. A competent person must inspect the system at least once a year per the FallTech manual, and after any fall event.
What warranty applies?
FallTech provides a 2-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, and Fall Protection Distributors passes that warranty through to you.
How quickly does this product ship?
Usually ships in 1 business day from our warehouse. Delivery time is based on the delivery location.
