GPB200 Safety Guardrail Boot Base with Hardware, 4-Pack

The Frontline GPB200 is a safety guardrail boot base - the most compact and lightest boot base on the market at just 1.5 lbs. Set the boot, drop in a wood 2x4 post, and you have the start of a code guardrail at a leading edge, a hole or opening, or a stairway.

Molded from high-strength ABS plastic in safety green, it includes integrated toe board slots and ships with the mounting washers, so a wood-rail guardrail goes up fast and cheap. Ideal for perimeter protection on the many edges a jobsite throws at you, built to the OSHA guardrail criteria of 1910 and 1926.

Who Needs This Product

This product is a guardrail boot base - the lightweight foot that holds a wood guardrail post upright for a fast, low-cost guardrail at leading edges, openings, and stairways. Roofers and framers screw the post into the boot and build a 2x4 guardrail in minutes.

Features

Build with lumber on hand

Drop a wood 2x4 into the boot and you have a code guardrail post without buying steel rail.

Cheap way to rail a perimeter

The low-cost boots plus jobsite 2x4s stand up a compliant edge fast.

Goes anywhere an edge appears

Leading edges, floor holes and openings, and stairways all take the same boot.

Toe board built in

Integrated slots accept a 2x4 toe board for falling-object protection.

Comes with the hardware

Mounting washers are in the pack, so there is nothing else to source.

Light enough to scatter across a deck

A crew can place boots wherever the perimeter needs them.

How to Set Up the GPB200

Follow the manufacturer's manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check bases, posts, rails, and fittings before each use.
  2. Plan the run. Lay out base/post positions per the manual maximum spacing for your edge.
  3. Set the bases. Place the non-penetrating bases (or clamp/anchor per the system) along the edge.
  4. Install posts and rails. Slide posts into the base fittings and seat top rails, mid rails, and toe boards.
  5. Secure. Tighten grub screws and connections per the manual.
  6. Verify. Have a competent person confirm the system before relying on it.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use and after any impact. Pull any component from service for the conditions below.

  • Posts and bases: bending, cracks, corrosion, or coating breakdown.
  • Clamping / counterweight: secure, no slipping under hand load.
  • Rails and toe boards: secure seating in the fittings, no damage.
  • Fasteners and grub screws: present, functional, tightened per the manual.
  • Markings: labels must be present and legible.

Remove any component from service that fails inspection. After any impact or load event, inspect the full system before reuse. Guardrail is passive protection: a damaged system gives false confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Frontline GPB200 boot base?
The GPB200 is a safety guardrail boot base - the most compact and lightest boot base on the market at just 1.5 lb. You set the boot, drop in a wood 2x4 post, and you have the start of a code guardrail at a leading edge, a hole or opening, or a stairway. It is molded from high-strength ABS plastic and ships as a 4-pack with mounting hardware.
How does the GPB200 work and install?
Fasten or set the boot at the edge, insert a wood 2x4 post, and build out a wood-rail guardrail to height. The mounting washers are included, so a perimeter guardrail goes up fast and inexpensively with common lumber.
Where is the GPB200 used?
It is built for perimeter protection at the many edges a jobsite throws at you - leading edges, floor holes and openings, and stairways. It is the low-cost way to stand up a compliant wood-rail guardrail quickly.
Does it include a toe board slot and hardware?
Yes - it has integrated toe-board slots and ships with the mounting washers. You supply the wood 2x4 posts and rails (and a 2x4 toe board where workers pass below).
How many come in a pack?
The GPB200 is sold as a 4-pack in safety green or safety yellow, enough boots to set several posts for a guardrail run. Space the posts per the OSHA guardrail criteria and the Frontline manual.
What is it made of, and how much does it weigh?
Each boot is molded from high-strength ABS plastic and weighs just 1.5 lb, making it easy to carry and deploy across a site. Inspect each boot for cracks or damage before use.
Is a GPB200 guardrail OSHA compliant?
Built out correctly - a 42 in top rail, a mid rail, and a toe board where needed - it supports an OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 compliant wood-rail guardrail. Follow the OSHA criteria and the Frontline manual for post spacing and rail sizing.
