Why Crews Choose the WDJ50

Zero Penetration, Zero Damage

No drilling, no bolts, no fasteners into the frame. The WDJ50 braces inside the opening, and non-skid protective pads keep finished door jambs, window frames, and sills free of marks. Ideal for occupied and finish-stage buildings.

Fits Windows and Doors

Adjustable arms expand from 22″ to 50″, so one anchor covers the vast majority of standard window and door openings. Set it on the sill for window work or flat on the floor for door openings, same anchor, two applications.

Tool-Free and Portable

Slide it into the opening, adjust the arms, drop the locking and safety pins, and turn the pressure handle tight. Setup takes seconds with no tools. At 26 lbs, one worker carries it from opening to opening as the job moves.

⚠ Verify Your Opening Before Ordering

The WDJ50 fits structural window and door openings 22″ to 50″ wide. The frame must be a fully installed, secured part of the building structure capable of withstanding a minimum breaking strength of 5,000 lbs, verified by a Qualified Person. The anchor must lie flat in an unobstructed area and fit snugly at 90° against both sides of the frame. If your opening falls outside this range or you're unsure, call us at 863-703-4522 before you buy. Need help planning your project? Use our free Fall Protection Calculator and Safety Plan Generator

Installation — Windows or Doors, One Worker, No Tools

  1. Verify the window or door opening is a fully installed, structural part of the building, 22″ to 50″ wide, and capable of withstanding a minimum breaking strength of 5,000 lbs (verified by a Qualified Person).
  2. Position the Horizontal Body behind the structural frame, flat on the floor for a door, or flat on the sill for a window, with the D-Ring Anchor facing the fall hazard.
  3. Adjust the Adjustable Arm inward so the Anchor Pad and pressure handle fit inside the frame, then push up against the anchor so the Fixed Arm sits snug at 90° against the frame.
  4. Adjust the Adjustable Arm outward so it fits snugly at 90° against the opposite side of the frame.
  5. Insert the locking pin through the Adjustable Arm and Horizontal Body into the nearest hole, then secure it with the safety pin.
  6. Turn the Adjustable Pressure Handle clockwise to tighten against the frame with as much pressure as possible. The anchor must be tight, secure, and flat — never loose or unstable.
  7. Visually and physically inspect the installation. Connect your compatible PFAS (full body harness + shock-absorbing lanyard or self-retracting lifeline) to the D-ring and begin work.

Direction Loading Limits

The D-ring anchor must face outward toward the fall hazard. Loading must be at 90° to the vertical and within ±15° of the centerline. Side loading is not permitted and will compromise the anchor's rated performance. After any fall arrest event, the WDJ50 must be removed from service immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the WDJ50 be used on both windows and doors?

Yes. The WDJ50 is designed for both. For a door opening, set the Horizontal Body flat on the floor inside the frame; for a window opening, set it flat on the window sill. In both cases, the adjustable arms expand to fit the opening, and the D-ring faces the fall hazard. The user manual includes separate step-by-step procedures for door and window installation.

What size opening does the WDJ50 fit?

The WDJ50 fits structural window and door openings from 22 inches to 50 inches wide. The frame must be fully installed, secured, and part of the building structure, and the anchor must lie flat in an unobstructed area. If your opening is narrower than 22 inches or wider than 50 inches, the WDJ50 will not fit — call us at 863-703-4522, and we'll help you find the right anchor.

Will the WDJ50 damage the window or door frame?

No. The WDJ50 is a non-penetrating anchor — it braces inside the opening without drilling, bolting, or fastening into the frame. It also features non-skid and protective pads that guard finished jambs, frames, and sills against marks, making it well-suited to occupied buildings and finish-stage work.

Is the WDJ50 OSHA- and ANSI-compliant?

Yes. The WDJ50 meets the requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 (construction), OSHA 29 CFR 1910 (general industry), and ANSI/ASSP Z359.18-2017 (Type A anchorage connector). It has been independently tested and certified by Intertek, a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory, under report number 105938082CRT-010 dated September 26, 2024.

Can I reuse the WDJ50 after a fall has been arrested?

No. ANSI Z359.18 and the Frontline user manual both require that any anchor subjected to a fall arrest event be removed from service immediately. The WDJ50 is a Type A (temporary) anchor designed for repeated installation and removal, but if it ever arrests an actual fall, take it out of service and replace it.

What direction can I work in once the anchor is installed?

The D-ring anchor must face outward toward the fall hazard. Loading must be at 90 degrees vertical and within 15 degrees of the center line in either direction. Side loading is not permitted and will compromise the anchor's rated performance. Always work directly below or in line with the anchor; do not work at angles that would create a swing fall hazard.

What other equipment do I need to use the WDJ50?

The WDJ50 is one component of a complete Personal Fall Arrest System. To use it safely, you also need a Frontline 100RCTB Combat Harness, a connecting subsystem — either a shock-absorbing lanyard or a self-retracting lifeline (SRL) — and a documented rescue plan. The connecting hardware must be a locking snap hook or carabiner compatible with the WDJ50's forged D-ring. Call 863-703-4522 if you'd like a complete system recommendation built around your specific job.

How often does the WDJ50 need to be inspected?

The user must inspect the WDJ50 before every use, looking for damage, corrosion, missing parts, deformation, loose bolts or nuts, legible labels, intact wearing pads, and proper function of the adjustable handle, locking pin, and safety pin. A Competent Person other than the user must conduct a documented, thorough inspection at least every 6 months, or sooner if conditions warrant. The user manual includes a full inspection checklist and a log for record-keeping.
