Forged Anchorage D-Bolt, 1/2 in or 5/8 in, 2-Pack

The Guardian forged D-bolt turns a bolted connection into a rated anchorage: a one-piece forged steel D-ring bolt that installs through a 1/2 in (00370) or 5/8 in (00371) hole and presents a permanent tie-off point wherever the structure accepts a bolt. Yellow finish keeps the rated point visible.

Each D-bolt serves one worker under OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.140, installed per the torque and substrate requirements in the manual. Sold as 2-packs to cover paired anchorage points.

Who Needs This Product

D-bolts are the fabricator answer to permanent anchorage: drill or use an existing hole, torque the forged bolt per the manual, and the structure carries a rated D-ring from then on. Steel platforms, equipment frames, and engineered connections all take them cleanly. Forged one-piece construction means no welded ring to inspect separately; the whole anchor is one grain of steel.

Installation Overview

Installation must follow the Guardian instruction manual for this anchor. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect first. Check the anchor body, connection point, and hardware before every installation.
  2. Verify the structure. The supporting structure must meet the strength requirements in the instruction manual.
  3. Install per the manual. Follow the substrate, fastener, and orientation requirements exactly; fill every required fastener position.
  4. Verify the connection. Confirm the anchor is fully seated and the connection point is accessible and undamaged.
  5. Connect the system. Attach a compatible connecting device and verify the complete personal fall arrest system with a competent person.
  6. Check clearance. Confirm fall clearance below the work area and minimize swing fall hazards before work begins.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before every use, and have a competent person perform a documented inspection at least every six months under ANSI Z359.2 practice. Remove the anchor from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Cracks, corrosion, or deformation of the body, connection point, or welds.
  • Loose, missing, damaged, or worn hardware and fasteners.
  • Elongation or wear at the D-ring or connection eye.
  • Missing or illegible labels.
  • Any evidence the anchor has arrested a fall.

Retirement triggers: any fall event on the anchor, or any condition where the inspector cannot positively verify it is fit for service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which D-bolt size do I need?
Match the hole: the 00370 fits 1/2 in holes with a yellow zinc finish, and the 00371 fits 5/8 in holes with a yellow dichromate finish. Substrate thickness and torque requirements for both are in the instruction manual.
Why forged instead of welded?
A forged D-bolt is one continuous piece of steel, no weld between the ring and the bolt to crack, corrode, or need separate inspection. That is the construction you want in a permanent anchor that gets inspected for decades.
Where are D-bolts used?
Steel platforms, mezzanines, equipment frames, and engineered connections where a bolted rated anchor point serves recurring maintenance access. Installation must be verified by a competent person, with the structure meeting single-worker anchorage requirements.
What options does the Guardian Forged Anchorage D-Bolt, 2-Pack come in?
Stocked options: 1/2 in hole, yellow zinc (00370-2PK); 5/8 in hole, yellow dichromate (00371-2PK). Every option carries the same Guardian lifetime warranty and ships in 1 business day.
Which standards does this product meet?
It is compliant with OSHA 1910.140, OSHA 1926.502, ANSI Z359.18-2017 when used within a complete, competent-person verified fall protection system, and Guardian products are tested in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
What is the rated capacity?
The rated worker capacity is 130-420 lbs., including all clothing, tools, and equipment carried by the worker.
When should this product be retired?
Retire it after any fall event, any failed inspection item, or whenever an inspector cannot positively verify it is fit for service. The inspection criteria in the linked documentation define the pass-fail conditions.
