Who Needs This Product

Spring-loaded torso adjusters

Quick, precise torso adjustment that holds its setting through the shift.

Built-in SRL connector loop

Fit before the first step up. Adjust the harness so the dorsal D-ring sits between the shoulder blades, the captivated chest strap crosses mid-chest, and leg straps allow a flat hand but not a fist. If either impact indicator has deployed, the harness has seen excessive force: retire it immediately.

Donning Overview

Donning must follow the Guardian Series 3 instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect first. Check webbing, contrasting core, stitching, D-ring, buckles, and both impact indicators before every use.
  2. Shake out and orient. Hold by the dorsal D-ring; straps fall into place without twists.
  3. Arms through. Put the harness on like a jacket, shoulder straps over both shoulders.
  4. Buckle the chest. Connect the captivated chest strap at mid-chest height.
  5. Buckle the legs. Connect each leg strap; snug so a flat hand fits but a fist does not.
  6. Adjust and check. Set the torso and leg adjustments, confirm the dorsal D-ring sits between the shoulder blades, and stow loose ends in the keepers.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before every use, and have a competent person perform a documented inspection at least every six months under ANSI Z359.2 practice. Remove the harness from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Webbing: contrasting core showing through, cuts, fraying, abrasion, burns, or chemical damage.
  • Impact indicators: either indicator deployed.
  • Stitching: broken, pulled, or abraded gray box stitching at load-bearing junctions.
  • Hardware: cracks, corrosion, or deformation of the D-ring or buckles.
  • Labels: missing or illegible under the Velcro label cover.

Retirement triggers: any fall arrest event, a deployed impact indicator, core webbing showing, or any condition where the inspector cannot positively verify the harness is fit for service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What buckle configuration is the Quick-Connect Chest, Tongue-Buckle Legs?
This configuration pairs a quick-connect chest buckle, which clicks together like a seat belt for fast gloved donning, with belt-style tongue buckles at the legs.
What sizes does this Series 3 configuration come in?
Three stocked sizes: M-L (37117), XL-XXL (37118), and 3XL (37119), each with five points of adjustment plus the spring-loaded torso adjusters.
What do the impact indicators do?
Two indicators on the back of the harness deploy visibly if the harness is exposed to excessive force, such as arresting a fall. A deployed indicator means the harness must be retired, which turns a judgment call into a clear pass-fail check.
What is contrasting core webbing?
The webbing is woven with a core color that contrasts with the outer fibers. When abrasion wears through the surface, the core shows through immediately, making wear inspection fast, easy, and safe. The webbing is also water-repellent for longevity.
Which standards does this harness meet?
It is certified to ANSI Z359.11-2021 and CSA Z259.10-2018, and meets OSHA 1910.140 and 1926.502. Capacity is 100 to 420 lbs under OSHA and CSA, and 130 to 310 lbs under ANSI, including all clothing, tools, and equipment. Testing is performed in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory per ANSI Z359.7-2019.
What is the SRL connector loop for?
The built-in loop above the dorsal D-ring gives a personal SRL its own connection point, freeing the dorsal D-ring for a ladder climbing system or rescue attachment. It is a Series 3 exclusive that tower and mixed-system crews rely on.
How is the Series 3 different from the Series 1?
The Series 3 includes every Series 1 feature and adds snap-on shoulder padding that wicks sweat, spring-loaded torso adjusters, an optional waist pad with removable belt, and the built-in SRL connector loop. It is the comfort-and-configuration line for crews with long days at height.
