SRL Tag Line, 30 ft and 50 ft

The Malta Dynamics SRL Tag Line attaches to an overhead self-retracting lifeline so a worker can reach up, grab the line, and pull the SRL's snap hook down to ground level for a quick, safe connection. A built-in attachment point catches the SRL hook for fast deployment, and a lightweight polyester web body makes the tag line easy to install, remove, and reinstall as work moves.

Available in 30 ft (C0001) and 50 ft (C0002) lengths to match a range of overhead anchorage heights, the tag line keeps crews from climbing or improvising to retrieve a high-mounted SRL. It is an accessory for retrieving an overhead SRL and is not itself a fall arrest connector.

Who Needs This Product

The SRL Tag Line is a retrieval accessory, not a fall arrest connector. Crews use it when a self-retracting lifeline is mounted on an overhead anchorage out of arm's reach. The tag line hangs down so a worker can pull the SRL's snap hook to the ground, connect it to the dorsal D-ring of a full body harness, and then deploy. It pairs with any overhead SRL setup and does not replace the harness, SRL, or anchorage in a personal fall arrest system.

Features

Ground-level SRL retrieval

Reach an overhead self-retracting lifeline from the ground without climbing or improvising to grab the hook.

Built-in attachment point

An integrated attachment point catches the SRL's snap hook for a fast, secure connection and easy release.

Lightweight polyester web

A compact polyester webbing body is easy to handle and adds almost no weight to the setup.

Install, remove, reinstall

Quick to set up and take down so it moves with the crew as the work area changes.

Two lengths

Choose 30 ft (C0001) or 50 ft (C0002) to match the height of your overhead anchorage.

Boosts productivity

Keeps overhead SRLs accessible so crews spend less time retrieving equipment and more time working.

This is a retrieval accessory, not a lifeline. The SRL Tag Line is used only to bring an overhead self-retracting lifeline within reach. Never tie off to the tag line for fall arrest or restraint. Fall protection is provided by the SRL, harness, and anchorage; inspect the tag line for cuts, frays, and pulled stitches before each use.

Compliance Standards

Accessory classification

The SRL Tag Line is a retrieval accessory. The fall protection rating belongs to the SRL, harness, and anchorage it is used with.

OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M

Use within a fall protection program that meets construction fall protection requirements for the connected SRL system.

OSHA 29 CFR 1910

General industry fall protection requirements covering the personal fall arrest system the tag line supports.

Use Overview

Use per the Malta Dynamics documentation. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check the webbing, stitching, and attachment point for cuts, frays, or damage before each use.
  2. Attach. Connect the tag line's built-in attachment point to the snap hook of the overhead self-retracting lifeline.
  3. Lower. Let the tag line hang within reach so the SRL hook can be retrieved from the ground.
  4. Deploy the SRL. Pull the SRL hook down, connect it to the dorsal D-ring of an ANSI full-body harness, and confirm the gate is locked.
  5. Work. Use the SRL for fall protection; the tag line is only for retrieval.
  6. Stow. Remove or reposition the tag line when relocating the SRL.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use. Remove the tagline from the service for any of the conditions below.

  • Webbing: cuts, frays, abrasion, burns, or chemical damage.
  • Stitching: pulled, cut, or loose stitches at the attachment point.
  • Attachment point: deformation, sharp edges, or wear that prevents a secure hold.
  • Overall: stiffness, discoloration, or mildew indicating material degradation.

Because the tag line is a retrieval accessory, retire it whenever the webbing or attachment point is damaged so it continues to deploy the SRL reliably.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the SRL Tag Line do?
It lets a worker retrieve an overhead self-retracting lifeline from the ground. The tag line attaches to the SRL and hangs down with a built-in attachment point so the SRL's snap hook can be pulled to ground level and connected to a harness, without climbing or improvising.
Is the tag line a fall arrest device?
No. The SRL Tag Line is a retrieval accessory only. Never tie off to it for fall arrest or restraint. Fall protection is provided by the self-retracting lifeline, full body harness, and anchorage it is used with.
What is the difference between the C0001 and C0002?
Length. The C0001 is a 30 ft tag line and the C0002 is a 50 ft tag line. Choose the length that reaches the ground from the height of your overhead SRL anchorage.
What is the tag line made of?
It uses a lightweight polyester webbing body with a built-in attachment point for the SRL snap hook. The C0001 weighs 3.14 lb and the C0002 weighs 4.7 lb.
Will the tag line work with any SRL?
It is designed to attach to a standard SRL snap hook for overhead retrieval. Confirm the SRL hook seats securely in the built-in attachment point before relying on the tag line to deploy the lifeline.
How do I install and remove it?
The tag line is lightweight and quick to install, remove, and reinstall. Attach it to the overhead SRL, let it hang within reach, and reposition or remove it as the SRL location changes across the jobsite.
When should I retire the tag line?
Remove it from service if the webbing is cut, frayed, abraded, or burned, if stitching is pulled or loose, or if the attachment point is deformed. Inspect it before each use so it continues to deploy the SRL reliably.
