C1004 Dual SRL Connector (2-Pack)

The Malta Dynamics C1004 Dual SRL Connector is a locking dual bracket that attaches up to two self-retracting lifelines directly to the dorsal area of a full body harness for twin-leg, 100 percent tie-off work. It mounts beneath the harness webbing at the dorsal D-ring rather than clipping to the D-ring itself, keeping both SRLs centered and tangle-free.

Forged from zinc-plated alloy steel, the connector has a 5,000 lb minimum breaking strength, a 3,600 lb gate, and a 2.13 inch gate opening. A red lock indicator confirms the bracket is fully closed and locked. It meets ANSI Z359.12-2009 and ANSI A10.32-12 and is OSHA compliant. This listing ships as a 2-pack.

Who Needs This Product

The C1004 is the dorsal attachment hardware for a twin-leg self-retracting lifeline setup, letting a worker keep 100 percent tie-off by clipping one SRL leg to the next anchor before releasing the first. It mounts the SRLs at the harness dorsal location and centers their load. It is a connecting component, not a complete system: each worker still needs an ANSI full body harness, two compatible SRLs, and anchorages rated for the system.

Features

Carries two SRLs

A dual bracket holds up to two self-retracting lifelines for twin-leg, 100 percent tie-off as a worker moves between anchor points.

Mounts at the dorsal webbing

The locking pin installs beneath the harness webbing at the dorsal D-ring, centering both SRLs rather than loading a single D-ring.

Red lock indicator

A red indicator on the sliding pin is fully hidden only when the bracket is closed and locked, giving a clear go or no-go check.

2.13 in gate opening

A wide 2.13 inch opening accepts the integral connection eyes of compatible SRLs without an added carabiner.

5,000 lb breaking strength

A 5,000 lb minimum breaking strength and 3,600 lb gate meet the strength thresholds for fall protection connectors.

Corrosion-resistant build

Zinc-plated alloy steel resists rust and corrosion through repeated reuse in hot and cold jobsite conditions.

Install the dual bracket correctly or it will not protect you. Attach SRLs to the fixed forged bracket loop, not the sliding pin side, and never connect SRLs to the dual bracket with carabiners. Install the locking pin beneath the harness webbing, never directly to the harness D-ring. Confirm the red indicator is fully hidden before use, and remove the connector from service after any fall.

Compliance Standards

ANSI Z359.12-2009

American National Standard for connecting components of personal fall arrest systems.

ANSI A10.32-12

ANSI/ASSP standard for fall protection systems in construction and demolition.

OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502

Construction fall protection criteria, including 100 percent tie-off and connector requirements.

OSHA 29 CFR 1910.66

General industry personal fall arrest system component requirements.

Installation Overview

Install the C1004 per the Malta Dynamics Connectors user instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check the bracket, pin, lock indicator, and frame before each use.
  2. Open the bracket. Simultaneously press the release button at the end of the pin and at the bracket loop.
  3. Install SRLs. Attach up to two compatible SRLs directly to the fixed forged bracket loop, not the sliding pin side and never with carabiners.
  4. Mount at the dorsal. Insert the locking pin beneath the harness webbing at the dorsal D-ring location, never to the D-ring itself.
  5. Lock. Fully close and lock the bracket; confirm the red indicator on the sliding pin is completely hidden.
  6. Verify clearance. Confirm fall clearance below the work surface for each SRL before work begins.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every six months. Remove the connector from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Bracket: cracks, deformation, deep gouges, or corrosion beyond surface discoloration.
  • Locking pin: does not seat, does not lock, or the red indicator remains visible when closed.
  • Release buttons: stick, fail to spring back, or operate incorrectly.
  • Bracket loop: nicks, burrs, sharp edges, or elongation where SRLs attach.
  • Markings: capacity and standard markings must remain legible.

Retirement triggers: any fall-arrest event, any cracked or deformed bracket, any failure of the lock indicator to confirm a locked state, or exposure to chemicals or heat beyond the manual limits. A connector exposed to a fall must be retired even if it appears undamaged.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Malta Dynamics C1004 Dual SRL Connector used for?
The C1004 is a locking dual bracket that attaches up to two self-retracting lifelines to the dorsal area of a full body harness. It lets a worker keep 100 percent tie-off by clipping one SRL leg to the next anchor before releasing the first.
How many SRLs can the C1004 hold?
Up to two self-retracting lifelines per dual bracket. The SRLs attach directly to the fixed forged bracket loop, not with carabiners and not to the sliding pin side.
How does the C1004 attach to a harness?
The locking pin installs beneath the harness webbing at the dorsal D-ring location, centering both SRLs. It is never connected directly to the harness D-ring. A red indicator confirms the bracket is closed and locked.
How strong is the C1004 connector?
The C1004 has a 5,000 lb minimum breaking strength and a 3,600 lb gate, with a worker capacity range of 130 to 310 lb including tools. The gate opening is 2.13 inches.
How do I know the C1004 is locked?
A red indicator on the inside of the sliding pin must be fully invisible when the bracket is closed and locked. If any red shows, the bracket is not locked and must not be used.
Which OSHA and ANSI standards does the C1004 meet?
The C1004 meets ANSI Z359.12-2009 and ANSI A10.32-12 and is OSHA compliant for use under 1926. It is backed by a Malta Dynamics Declaration of Conformity with third-party testing under ISO 17025 accreditation.
What else do I need for a complete twin-leg system?
The C1004 is the connector only. You also need an ANSI full body harness, two compatible self-retracting lifelines, and anchorages rated for the system. Use the Fall Protection Calculator below to plan clearance for each SRL leg.
