Typical Applications
Installation Overview
Install the C1004 per the Malta Dynamics Connectors user instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.
- Inspect. Check the bracket, pin, lock indicator, and frame before each use.
- Open the bracket. Simultaneously press the release button at the end of the pin and at the bracket loop.
- Install SRLs. Attach up to two compatible SRLs directly to the fixed forged bracket loop, not the sliding pin side and never with carabiners.
- Mount at the dorsal. Insert the locking pin beneath the harness webbing at the dorsal D-ring location, never to the D-ring itself.
- Lock. Fully close and lock the bracket; confirm the red indicator on the sliding pin is completely hidden.
- Verify clearance. Confirm fall clearance below the work surface for each SRL before work begins.
Inspection and Retirement
Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every six months. Remove the connector from service for any of the conditions below.
- Bracket: cracks, deformation, deep gouges, or corrosion beyond surface discoloration.
- Locking pin: does not seat, does not lock, or the red indicator remains visible when closed.
- Release buttons: stick, fail to spring back, or operate incorrectly.
- Bracket loop: nicks, burrs, sharp edges, or elongation where SRLs attach.
- Markings: capacity and standard markings must remain legible.
Retirement triggers: any fall-arrest event, any cracked or deformed bracket, any failure of the lock indicator to confirm a locked state, or exposure to chemicals or heat beyond the manual limits. A connector exposed to a fall must be retired even if it appears undamaged.
