Typical Applications
Use and Connection Overview
Use the C1000 per the Malta Dynamics Connectors user instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.
- Inspect. Check the gate, barrel, frame, and locking action before each use.
- Open. Twist the quarter-turn barrel, then pull the gate open with one hand.
- Connect. Clip the carabiner to a compatible anchorage connector or harness D-ring, never gate-to-gate with another connector.
- Lock. Release the gate and confirm it springs fully closed and the barrel relocks.
- Verify. Confirm the connection is captured, the gate is not loaded, and the connector cannot roll out.
- Plan clearance. Confirm fall clearance below the work surface before work begins.
Inspection and Retirement
Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least every six months. Remove the connector from service for any of the conditions below.
- Gate: does not fully close, does not self-lock, or sticks when operated.
- Frame: cracks, deformation, deep gouges, or corrosion beyond surface discoloration.
- Barrel: worn, damaged, or failing to return to the locked position.
- Markings: capacity and standard markings must remain legible.
- Wear: any sharp edges, burrs, or nicks at load-bearing surfaces.
Retirement triggers: any fall-arrest event, any cracked or deformed frame, any gate or barrel that fails to self-lock, or exposure to chemicals or heat beyond the manual limits. A connector exposed to a fall must be retired even if it appears undamaged.
