Malta Dynamics Eye and Face Protection

Safety Helmet Visors - Clear or Tinted

Malta Dynamics Safety Helmet Visors add a flip-up layer of eye protection to your Malta Dynamics safety helmet. Made from durable, high-strength plastic, they meet the ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015 impact-resistance standard and feature an anti-scratch lens and an easy-clean rimless design. They install and remove from the helmet as needed and pivot on a hinge so the visor is there when you need it and stowed when you do not.

Choose clear or tinted. The tinted visor is 99% UV resistant to shield the eyes from the sun. Because the visor attaches to a helmet with a chin strap, it frees your hands from adjusting safety glasses, keeps the lens off your face, and prevents it from falling off. Clean with warm water and soap, no special chemicals required.

Who Needs This Product

These helmet visors are integrated flip-up eye protection for any crew already wearing Malta Dynamics safety helmets who want hands-free, off-the-face eye protection instead of separate safety glasses. The clear visor suits general work; the tinted visor adds 99% UV protection for outdoor and bright conditions. The visor mounts to the helmet's visor holes, so each worker needs a compatible Malta Dynamics safety helmet, sold separately.

A helmet visor is eye protection, not the whole system. The visor meets the ANSI Z87.1-2015 impact rating and provides eye protection, but for face protection against heavy debris, splash, or arc flash, use the appropriate face shield. Install per the instructions so the visor swivels freely but stays secure, and replace the visor immediately if it is cracked, deeply scratched, or has taken a forcible impact.

Compliance Standards

ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015

American National Standard for occupational eye and face protection; the visor meets the impact rating.

Installation Overview

Install per the Malta Dynamics helmet visor installation instructions. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Gather parts. Remove the visor, two screws, two internal plastic brackets, and two external plastic brackets from the bag.
  2. Insert internal brackets. Push the left and right internal brackets into the slots inside the helmet at the visor holes.
  3. Place external brackets. Fit the left and right external brackets over the brim at the pre-drilled visor holes.
  4. Snap on the visor. Place the clear or tinted visor over the external brackets so the tab snaps into the hole in the visor.
  5. Thread the screws. Thread one screw on each side from the inside out into the visor bracket; do not over-tighten so the visor can still swivel.
  6. Check the swivel. Confirm the visor flips up and down smoothly and holds position; then it is ready for use.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use. Remove the visor from service if any of the conditions below apply.

  • Lens: cracks, deep scratches, or crazing that impairs vision or protection.
  • Hinge and brackets: cracks, looseness, or a hinge that will not hold position.
  • Screws: loose, stripped, or missing hardware.
  • Tint: any degradation of the tinted visor's UV protection.
  • Fit: a visor that no longer seats securely on the helmet.

Retirement triggers: any forcible impact to the visor, any cracked or deeply scratched lens, or any bracket or hinge that will not hold the visor securely. Replace the visor immediately at any sign of damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the clear and tinted helmet visors?
Both are durable, high-strength plastic flip-up visors that meet the ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015 impact rating. The HTV0001 clear visor suits general indoor and shop work, while the HTV0002 tinted visor is 99% UV resistant to shield the eyes from the sun in outdoor and bright conditions.
What helmet do these visors fit?
They attach to Malta Dynamics safety helmets, mounting into the pre-drilled visor holes with the included internal and external brackets and screws. The safety helmet is sold separately.
Do the visors meet an impact standard?
Yes. The visors are made from durable, high-strength plastic and meet the ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015 impact-resistance standard. Conformity is declared with independent third-party testing under ISO 17025 accreditation.
Can the visor be removed or flipped up?
Yes. The visor installs and removes from the safety helmet as needed, and the hinge lets you flip it down for eye protection or push it up out of the way when you do not need it.
Why use a helmet visor instead of safety glasses?
A helmet visor frees your hands from adjusting safety glasses and keeps the lens off your face, so there is no temple pain behind the ears. Because it is attached to a helmet with a chin strap, it will not fall off.
How do I clean the visor?
Use warm water and soap; no special chemicals are required. The anti-scratch lens has an easy-clean rimless design that wipes clean to a clear finish.
Is a helmet visor enough for face protection?
The visor provides ANSI Z87.1 impact eye protection. For heavy debris, chemical splash, welding, or arc flash, add the appropriate face shield, such as the Malta Dynamics mesh, clear, shade, or arc-flash face shield.
