Titan II Non-Stretch Full Body Harness, Hi-Viz

The Miller T4500 Titan II is the hi-viz compliance harness that keeps a whole crew visible and tied off without blowing the equipment budget: lightweight, non-stretch polyester webbing, five points of adjustment, a mating chest buckle, and tongue leg buckles that workers already know how to use. It is the harness Miller has built its jobsite reputation on since 1944.

Certified to ANSI Z359.11 and compliant with OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.140, the Titan II supports a 420 lb maximum working load including clothing and tools. A sliding back D-ring keeps the dorsal connection centered between the shoulder blades, and four stocked sizes from S/M to 3XL fit nearly any worker.

S/M fits workers up to 5 ft 10 in and 170 lb, or up to 190 lb at 5 ft 6 in and under. Universal (L/XL) covers the broad middle and is the most popular size. XXL/XXXL fits workers over 6 ft who weigh over 270 lb, and any worker from 350 to 400 lb. Lighter boundary bands are overlap zones where either size fits: size down for a trim fit or up for room over layers. Some Miller spec sheets list these as Size 1 (S/M), Size 2 Universal (L/XL), and Size 3 (2XL and 3XL). Based on the manufacturer's published Miller sizing chart; verify fit per the user manual before first use.

Who Needs This Product

The Titan II T4500 is built for general construction and industrial crews that need a certified, easy-to-fit harness on every worker without paying for padding and hardware they will not use. The hi-viz orange webbing doubles as a visibility layer on active sites, the non-stretch polyester holds its shape through long shifts, and the familiar mating chest buckle and tongue leg buckles mean nobody needs a lesson to put it on correctly. Workers who want a front D-ring for ladder climbing should look at the T4500FD configuration, and crews that want integrated shoulder pads should look at the Titan II contractor models.

Features

Hi-Viz Orange Webbing

High-visibility webbing keeps workers conspicuous on active jobsites, adding a layer of visibility to the crew when equipment and vehicles are moving.

Sliding Back D-Ring

The dorsal D-ring slides along the back strap to self-center between the shoulder blades, promoting proper dorsal alignment and improved comfort after a lanyard or SRL is connected.

Non-Stretch Polyester

Lightweight polyester webbing with no built-in elastication, so the harness holds its adjusted fit through the shift instead of loosening as the day goes on.

Mating Chest Buckle

The interlocking mating buckle seats positively across the chest and is simple to verify visually, with no springs or moving parts to foul with dirt or ice.

Tongue Leg Buckles

Belt-style tongue buckles on the leg straps give a positive, indexed adjustment that workers can set by feel, even with gloves on.

Five Points of Adjustment

Adjustment at the chest, both shoulders, and both legs provides each worker with a custom fit across the full S/M to 3XL size range.

All sizes on this page are selectable from the size options above. The Universal (L/XL) size fits the majority of workers.

Fit before the first step up. Adjust all five points so the dorsal D-ring sits between the shoulder blades, the chest strap crosses mid-chest, and the leg straps allow a flat hand but not a fist. A harness that has arrested a fall is done: remove it from service immediately.

Compliance Standards

ANSI Z359.11

Certified to the ANSI/ASSE Z359.11 standard for full body harnesses, covering design, testing, and marking requirements.

OSHA 1926.502 and 1910.140

Meets OSHA requirements for personal fall arrest system body wear in both construction and general industry.

TAA Compliant

Listed as TAA compliant by the manufacturer, allowing purchase on federal projects that require Trade Agreements Act sourcing.

CSA Listing

The manufacturer product listing states the Titan II meets CSA standards. Verify the CSA marking on the harness label before use on Canadian jobsites.

Typical Applications

General construction and framing crews that outfit every worker with certified fall arrest body wear.
Roofing work when paired with a compliant anchor and connecting device.
Steel, concrete, and mezzanine work with overhead or dorsal tie-off points.
Industrial maintenance teams that keep spare harnesses staged for occasional at-height tasks.
Scaffold erection and dismantling with the sliding dorsal D-ring centered under the connection.
Fleet and rental programs that need one affordable, size-ranged harness across many users.

Donning Overview

  1. Hold the harness by the back D-ring and shake it out so the straps hang free without twists.
  2. Slip the shoulder straps on like a vest, keeping the hi-viz webbing flat against the body.
  3. Connect the mating chest buckle and position the chest strap across the middle of the chest.
  4. Fasten each tongue leg buckle so the strap allows a flat hand between the strap and the leg, but not a fist.
  5. Work through all five adjustment points until the sliding dorsal D-ring rests between the shoulder blades, then tuck the strap ends into the keepers.

Full donning and adjustment instructions are in the Miller harness manual linked in the documentation section below.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect the T4500 before each use, and have a competent person other than the user formally inspect it at least annually per ANSI Z359.2. Check each point below and record the results on the inspection form linked in the documentation section.

  • Webbing: cuts, frays, burns, chemical damage, UV fading, or broken stitching anywhere on the harness.
  • Hardware: the dorsal D-ring, chest buckle, and tongue buckles for cracks, corrosion, distortion, or sharp edges.
  • Adjusters and keepers: slippage, missing keepers, or strap ends that will not stay stowed.
  • Labels: present and legible, including the size, standards, and serial information.

Retirement triggers: any fall arrest event, any webbing or hardware defect found during inspection, or any condition where the inspector cannot positively verify the harness is fit for service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes does the Miller T4500 Titan II come in?
This page stocks four sizes: S/M, Universal (L/XL), 2XL, and 3XL. The Universal size fits the majority of workers, which is why crews that buy in quantity typically standardize on it and add S/M and 2XL or 3XL harnesses for workers at the ends of the size range.
What is the maximum working load of the T4500?
The Titan II is rated for a 420 lb maximum working load, which includes the worker plus all clothing, tools, and equipment carried. Confirm that your lanyard or SRL carries a matching capacity rating so the complete personal fall arrest system is rated for the worker.
What does non-stretch webbing mean?
The T4500 uses polyester webbing with no built-in elastication, so the fit you set in the morning is the fit you have all day. Elasticated harnesses add stretch panels for mobility, but they cost more and can relax over a long shift. Non-stretch webbing keeps the harness affordable and predictable.
Why does the back D-ring slide?
The dorsal D-ring rides on the back strap so it can self-center between the shoulder blades after the worker connects a lanyard or SRL. A centered dorsal connection keeps the worker upright during a fall arrest and improves comfort during everyday movement.
What buckles does the T4500 use?
The chest strap closes with an interlocking mating buckle, and the leg straps use belt-style tongue buckles. Both styles are simple to verify visually, work with gloves on, and have no springs or latches to foul with jobsite dirt, ice, or concrete dust.
Is the T4500 OSHA compliant?
Yes. The Titan II is certified to ANSI Z359.11 and meets OSHA 1926.502 for construction and OSHA 1910.140 for general industry when used as part of a complete personal fall arrest system with a compliant anchor and connecting device.
How often does the harness need to be inspected, and when is it retired?
Inspect it before each use, and have a competent person inspect it at least annually per ANSI Z359.2, which includes checking the webbing, hardware, and labels, allowing damage to be caught before it puts a worker at risk. Retire the harness after any fall arrest event or any failed inspection.
