Tie Down TranzVolt G2 Laddervator

Tie Down TranzVolt G2 Laddervator Pro Kit with DeWalt Batteries and Solar Tilt Platform

The TranzVolt G2 is Tie Down's cordless ladder hoist: a 33 lb power box that climbs the track on a synthetic cable, lifting 250 lb at 2 ft per second to 44 ft, with no gas, no oil and no cord. Two standard DeWalt 20V tool batteries (not included) run it for a full eight hour shift, and the wireless remote lets the ground worker stand clear while the load rides up.

The Solar Tilt Back Platform pivots at the top of the track so panels, plywood, windows and sheet goods tilt onto the roof and the roof worker never reaches over the edge. The Pro Kit is the complete 28 ft setup: power box with two remotes, 4 ft base track, three 8 ft track sections, top cap with tilt rollers, bottom stop brackets, cam buckle straps, rope, platform frame and carrying bag. Extend to 44 ft with extra track and the 44 ft cable.

Who Needs This Product

Solar installers who need panels on the roof without a crane, and anyone lifting sheet goods, windows or plywood where the tilt platform keeps the receiving worker off the edge. The TranzVolt G2 is for crews in noise sensitive neighborhoods, on sites without power, and for anyone already running DeWalt 20V tools who wants to share batteries. One worker on the ground with the remote, one on the roof receiving, and the roof worker tied off.

Features

Battery powered, no fuel or oil

Two DeWalt 20V batteries drive the power box for about eight hours of lifting. Swap packs with the rest of your tool fleet and skip the fuel can, the oil changes and the exhaust.

250 lb at 2 ft per second

Rated for 250 lb per trip and climbs the track at 2 ft per second, so a 28 ft lift takes about 15 seconds.

33 lb power box

Small enough for one person to carry and hang on the track; it travels in the included bag and assembles in minutes with no special tools.

Wireless remote with two remotes included

The ground worker runs the lift from 6 to 7 ft away with the remote. A safety stop and homing process set the travel limits.

Tilt platform at the top

The Solar Tilt Back Platform pivots so panels and sheet goods lay over onto the roof; the receiving worker takes the load without leaning out.

28 ft kit, 44 ft maximum

4 ft base plus three 8 ft sections reach 28 ft. Add track sections and the 44 ft synthetic cable (40674) for the 44 ft maximum.

⚠

Stay 10 ft from power lines and never climb the track. Keep the track at least 10 ft clear of overhead wires, set the base at the chart distance for the roof height, tie the top bracket to the roof, and stand back 6 to 7 ft while the carriage runs. Do not operate above 36 ft without the extension kit and 44 ft cable (40674); 44 ft is the absolute maximum. Batteries are not included.

Compliance Standards

OSHA 29 CFR 1926.552

Material hoists; the Tie Down manual is the operating instruction required on site.

OSHA 29 CFR 1926.416 and 1926.1408

Electrical safety and power line clearance: 10 ft minimum from overhead lines.

OSHA 29 CFR 1926.501

The worker receiving materials at the roof edge still needs fall protection; the tilt platform keeps them from reaching over the edge.

Two year power box warranty

Tie Down warrants the TranzVolt G2 electrical power box for two years and all other TranzVolt G2 equipment for six months.

Typical Applications

Solar installsPanels tilted onto the roof without a crane.
Residential roofingShingles and underlayment in quiet neighborhoods.
Window and sidingSheet goods and windows to the second story.
No power on siteBattery lifting where there is no outlet or generator.
Rental yardsA hoist that rents without fuel handling.
Commercial low slopeRolled goods and insulation boards.

How to Use

Follow the Tie Down instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Set the track. Pin the 4 ft base to the 8 ft sections on the ground, raise with two people, set the bottom shoes the chart distance from the wall and tie the top bracket to the roof.
  2. Hang the power box. Lift the 33 lb power box onto the track, seat it on the rails and route the synthetic cable through the top cap per the manual.
  3. Insert batteries and home. Install two charged batteries, press Start and run the homing process so the box learns the track length and the bottom stop.
  4. Load and lift. Place materials on the platform, stand back 6 to 7 ft and run the carriage with the wireless remote; the platform tilts at the top so the roof worker never reaches over the edge.
  5. Take down. Lower the carriage to the bottom stop, remove the batteries, collapse the platform and bag the power box.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent person inspection at least annually. Remove the system from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Synthetic cable: cuts, fraying, glazing or a worn termination; replace with the 40666 cable assembly.
  • Power box: cracked housing, damaged battery terminals, a remote that will not pair, a safety stop that will not trigger.
  • Track sections and splice plates: bent rails, cracked welds, missing pins.
  • Platform and tilt mechanism: bent frame, pivot that binds, missing hardware.
  • Bottom stop brackets and top cap rollers: loose or damaged.

Remove the system from service immediately after any fall arrest event and have it inspected by a competent person before it returns to use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are batteries included?
No. The kit uses two standard DeWalt 20V batteries that you supply, so it shares packs with the tools you already run. Two charged batteries run the hoist for about eight hours.
How fast and how high does it lift?
250 lb at 2 ft per second. The kit track reaches 28 ft; with extra track sections and the 44 ft synthetic cable it reaches the 44 ft maximum. Do not run above 36 ft without the extension kit.
What is the difference between the Solar and Roofing platforms?
The Solar Tilt Back Platform pivots to lay panels, plywood and windows over onto the roof. The Collapsible Roofing Platform is the aluminum deck and flap for bundles and rolled goods. Both tilt at the top so the roof worker never reaches over the edge.
DeWalt or Milwaukee?
Pick the battery platform your crew already owns. DeWalt kits take two 20V batteries, Milwaukee kits take two 18V batteries. The hoist is otherwise identical.
Is it quieter than a gas hoist?
Yes. There is no engine, so it suits residential neighborhoods, early starts and noise sensitive sites, and it can run where a gas engine cannot.
Do I still need fall protection?
Yes. The worker receiving materials is at the roof edge and needs a harness and anchor under OSHA 1926.501. Keep the track 10 ft from power lines and never climb it.
Can I finance the TranzVolt?
Yes. Business financing through APPROVE takes about 60 seconds to apply and a sample monthly payment is shown above. Track sections and cable ordered with the kit can be bundled in.
