FallTech 7446 Removable Concrete Anchor

The FallTech 7446 Removable Concrete Anchor drops into a pre-drilled hole in cured concrete to create a temporary tie-off point, then comes back out so you can reuse it on the next location. Unlike a cast-in embed anchor, it is not permanent.

It is rated for 6,000 lb and installs into a minimum 3,000 psi fully cured concrete substrate that meets the manual's thickness and edge-distance requirements. Certified to ANSI Z359.18-2017, for one worker up to 310 lb (ANSI) or 425 lb (OSHA).

Who Needs This Product

This product is a removable concrete anchor, the reusable anchorage component of a personal fall arrest system. Crews drill a hole in cured concrete, drop the anchor in for a temporary tie-off, and remove it when done. It suits work that moves across a slab or returns to a site. You still need a certified full-body harness and a compatible connecting device.

How to Install the 7446

Follow the FallTech instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  1. Inspect. Check the anchor body, D-ring, and mechanism before each use.
  2. Drill the hole. Use a rotary hammer drill and the specified bit to bore a straight hole of the correct depth and diameter into minimum 3,000 psi concrete.
  3. Set the anchor. Install the anchor into the hole per the manual and confirm it is fully seated and secure.
  4. Connect. Attach your SRL or lanyard to the D-ring.
  5. Check clearance, then remove. Confirm fall clearance below; remove the anchor when the task is complete.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least annually. Remove the anchor from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Anchor body and mechanism: cracks, deformation, corrosion, or a mechanism that will not set or release.
  • D-ring: deformation, sharp edges, cracks, or corrosion.
  • The drilled hole: damage or wear if reusing a previous hole.
  • Labels: illegible or missing markings.

Remove the anchor from service immediately after any fall-arrest event, and destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from an embed anchor?
The 7446 drops into a pre-drilled hole and can be removed and reused, while an embed anchor is cast into the concrete permanently.
What concrete does it need?
Minimum 3,000 psi fully cured concrete that meets the manual's thickness and edge-distance requirements.
What is the rated strength?
The 7446 is rated for 6,000 lb and certified to ANSI Z359.18-2017.
What is the worker capacity?
One worker, 130 to 310 lb for ANSI compliance and up to 425 lb for OSHA compliance.
Can I reuse the same hole?
Yes, if the hole is undamaged. Always inspect a previously drilled hole for damage or wear before reinstalling.
What do I connect to it?
Connect a compatible SRL or energy-absorbing lanyard to the D-ring, used with a certified full-body harness.
Can it be reused after a fall?
No. Remove the anchor from service immediately after any fall-arrest event and destroy it so it cannot be reused.
