Who Needs This Product

This product is a versatile post anchor, the anchorage component of a personal fall arrest system. Crews mount it to wood, concrete, or steel to raise the tie-off above the deck, then connect an SRL or lanyard to the welded eye. Choose the post height for your clearance. You still need a certified full-body harness and a compatible connecting device.

Features

Versatile base

Mounts to wood, concrete, or steel to suit the structure.

Raised tie-off

The post lifts the anchor above the deck to reduce free fall.

Two heights

Choose a 12 in or 18 in post for the clearance you need.

Welded eye

A strong, fixed connection point for an SRL or lanyard.

Durable steel post

Built to stay installed for ongoing access.

ANSI Z359.18-2017

Certified anchorage rated for 5,000 lb (22.2 kN).

Mount to a sound rated substrate per the manual. Use the correct fasteners for wood, concrete, or steel, set to the specified torque, in a substrate rated to support the post anchor, and confirm it is tight and plumb. Confirm fall clearance and swing-fall with the Fall Protection Calculator below.

How to Install

Follow the FallTech instruction manual. The sequence below is an overview only.

  2. Prepare the structure. Confirm the mounting surface is sound and rated to support the anchor per the manual.
  3. Install and secure. Mount the anchor as specified and set all fasteners to the required torque.
  4. Connect. Attach your SRL or energy-absorbing lanyard to the connection point.
  5. Check clearance. Confirm fall clearance and swing-fall with the calculator below.

Inspection and Retirement

Inspect before each use, with a documented competent-person inspection at least annually. Remove the anchor from service for any of the conditions below.

  • Anchor body and welds: cracks, bending, deformation, or corrosion.
  • D-ring or connection point: deformation, sharp edges, cracks, or corrosion.
  • Fasteners and hardware: damaged threads, loose or missing fasteners.
  • Labels: illegible or missing markings.

Remove the anchor from service immediately after any fall-arrest event, and destroy retired equipment so it cannot return to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What substrates does it mount to?
Wood, concrete, or steel, using the fasteners specified in the manual for each substrate.
What post heights are available?
A 12 in (78012WCSWE) and an 18 in (78218WCSWE) height; choose based on the clearance you need.
Why use a raised post anchor?
Elevating the tie-off reduces free-fall distance and helps keep the lifeline clear of the working surface.
What is the rated strength and capacity?
Certified to ANSI Z359.18-2017 with 5,000 lb (22.2 kN) strength, for one worker up to 310 lb (ANSI) or 425 lb (OSHA).
How is this different from the concrete/steel-only version?
This version adds wood mounting to the concrete and steel options for more flexibility.
What do I connect to it?
Connect a compatible SRL or energy-absorbing lanyard to the connection point, used with a certified full-body harness.
Can it be reused after a fall?
No. Remove the anchor from service immediately after any fall-arrest event and destroy it so it cannot be reused.
