What is the rescue pole for?

It extends a rescuer's reach from 4 to 17 ft to place a connector on a suspended worker's harness, or to retrieve a lanyard, without leaving a protected position. The carbon fiber pole stays stiff at full extension.

Why carbon fiber instead of aluminum?

At 17 ft of extension an aluminum pole whips and sags, which makes precise hook placement difficult. Carbon fiber keeps the tip controllable at full reach while cutting carried weight to about 3 lb.
