- Assemble the hoist. Build the pole hoist per the manual and position it at the entry point.
- Mount the device. Attach the retrieval device and route the line per the instructions.
- Verify the setup. Confirm stability and pin engagement before connecting an entrant.
- Operate per the manual. Run the retrieval device per its instructions for entry and rescue.
Inspection and Retirement
Inspect the hoist before each use. A competent person must inspect it at least annually.
- Sections: cracks, bends, and corrosion on all tubes.
- Pins: full engagement at every joint.
- Head assembly: sheave turns freely; no deformation.
Retirement triggers: any rescue or fall load, structural damage, or missing hardware.
